Shared Housing

I know a couple of people have mentioned it in the past but rather than diggin up an old thread, I am wondering what people think of the possibility of shared housing with your married partner, since we know now we can get married in game.

I think it would be a good edition, it would help consolidate resources into one house for the same couple and they could have their own dream house.

Quick edit: it seems people fear their e-partners and fear for lost gear, so perhaps having storage that is personal inside the shared house and having a seperate storage for shared items similar to the free company chest.

My personal and practical opinion differ --

I'm happily married irl so I'd love to have shared housing ingame, it'd make things so much simpler for me and my other half to share materials/gear etc without arduous trade-ga.

But getting this to work practically... I don't think it'd be great. What happens to those e-couples that date for a week and break up? Things could get messy if people cleaned eachother out... kinda like how in XI people would share account info then wake up one day with no items after a nasty spat, or the guys that pose as girls with the sole purpose of draining gil/gear from someone D: (Anyone from XI remember the story of lolVoicebox?)


I'd love to see something like shared housing in the game, but the ugliness of people will make sure that we see no such shared accommodations.

Personally, I think that this danger wouldn't be a problem, but more of a deterrent to marry for the sake of it. Maybe I'm being a bit old-fashioned about it though, idk.

That kind of gravity never stopped people from trading account info to their e-partners in XI D:
There would be a lot of GM calls from spurned exes, kinda like there was in XI when someone jacked the other person's stuff x_x.

Though earlier the idea of 2 sets of storage was tossed around (personal & shared), I think this could work really well and save people from themselves/eachother^^;

I see your point and that makes me sad, as just like you, myself and my wife would really enjoy shared housing.

It would be fantastic! I'm kinda bummed that we 99% won't see anything like shared housing (But it's still nice to think of!)

I'm not too fond of sharing anything. It's nice to trust people but a person can easily change and do the unthinkable when angered, irritated or provoked. Mind you, I don't mind them adding something like this for those that actually would love to see something like this. But I prefer it to be something optional. For now, I only want to be able to invite one or more person to my house. Me and my old FFXI linkshell tended to sometimes visit other people's mog houses in groups. Would love for that to happen again.

O ya I would completely agree at making it optional. Make it similar to fable where you have to choose to move your family into a house. If greed is a big issue, then perhaps you could have a shared storage similar to the free companies and storage just for your stuff in the house.
