I wonder if anyone will make a model viewer like there was Model and Altana viewers for FFXI... I hope so, it makes creating comics exceptionally easier.

Has there been even any proof the client has been released yet? From my understanding emails were going out, that's it. There may be no client for download to those individuals until the game goes live for alpha testing.
a thread just got deleted not too long ago with a picture of somebody downloading the JP client for alpha lol.

*puts on his best acting* What's this about getting information from the DAT's? The man is clearly delusional. There is no such thing. The files are perfectly encrypted. There is no way that people can read its content >_>.
Also I was reminded about an old thread about this with the most amusing dev reply lol. Unfortunately I can't find the post

You can't "encrypt" files on a single machine and then expect that same machine to be able to decrypt them. That's like building a safe with a key chained to it. Even if they embedded the key in the FFXIV executable, someone would come along and decompile it. Suddenly, everyone has the key. It's the black-box dilemma. There was actually an interesting DARPA contest a while back to come up with a method for manipulating data without decrypting it, thus preserving it's integrity. I have no idea if it panned out though.
Greetings All,
I am afraid I am going to have to lock this thread. All Alpha testers are under an NDA. Even something as simple as saying whether or not the .dat files are encrypted would be a violation of the NDA. In fact, testers are not even allowed to admit they are in Alpha.
