You clearly don't understand the process then. I wasn't inviting a debate on what you speculate an alpha is for or even what this alpha is for. I was just offering some realistic expectations that some people should follow.

The only people who think this is going to be a short and painless process are people who, either don't understand the work that is needed to be done between phases, or simply people who don't participate in many alpha/beta tests.

It's not a crime or anything to be optimistic, but really these made up phase periods you guys are allowing yourself to believe are wildly short and unrealistic.

Alpha length can vary wildly depending on how smooth or rocky it runs. A planned month could turn into 2-3 (for good reason) if the second they launch the servers they crash.

Let's cross our fingers for a smooth and quick transition to Beta where we will get to actually see stuff (And hopefully participate). Alpha is mainly just logging in and running around...if that.

Since this about alpha testing there was just something I thought I'd ask on for some clarification. While it's clear (crystal clear even) that we're prohibited from speaking about anything we see during the alpha stages would this rule still apply after? Meaning if you were to collect any media (screenshots, music, videos) during your time in alpha would you still be forbidden to share or make this media publicly available well after alpha ends and the actual game client is out? Personally I'd like to collect some information and share it with my friends after the game goes live to show what the client was like during the testing phases to show what's changed but I don't want to risk getting my account suspended and/or banned.

As long as you're under NDA you are not allowed to share anything but when the NDA lifts there shouldn't be a problem, unless they have specifically said that you are not allowed to share alpha footage/info now or in the future.

Some NDA's say that you can't reveal info even after it is lifted.
