I just saw the words "global community".. that ends the thread for me on the first page. Hell if I'm gonna watch that get hashed out and/or whined about again. Next we'll be talking about grass.. I don't even know how, but someone's gonna talk about grass.

One man's dedication is another man's 'having no life'. Your quoted reason is exactly why I have no interest in 24-hour spawns, though I do think the current system of "spawns every 5 minutes" is a little much. But 24 hours? That to me that was never a "perk" of FFXI.

Hardcore goals which take years, goals which take months, goals which take weeks. Content that is never negated.

#2 Player Driven Economy: Look at XI it worked, look at XIV it is a complete mess. Fix it simple as that

#3 Global Community: This was one of the #1 selling points of XI.... it is completely backwards thinking to not at least offer it to some degree.

That is what they can take from XI to make XIV really good. The things above are what makes the pre-abysea XI in some ways still better then everything else. It might of lacked casual element, but it nailed the hardcore and midcore elements. Had a strong economy for years and brought the world together.

Combine XI with more casual modern mmo games and you can have something that everyone can enjoy not just the people playing casually.

Oh another thing I would like to see in FFXIV is:

Mandatory Party-Based Roadblocks in story content that are fun, unique, and challenging (i.e. CoP). Not the current crap that is borderline dead as nails easy to appease crybabies.

You know. Something that isn't just 5 zones of repeated rock formations. Unique caves and dungeons you can just go visit on a whim. Unique places we can hang out and enjoy. A world designed like an environment.

The only thing I'd want from FFXI in FFXIV is a quick, efficient, and less buggy UI, and were getting that so nothing.

By never really playing it and only caring for loot. Most likely never playing it. The world design, the style of music, the consistently flowing storyline especially between expansion packs..something that actually feels like a Final Fantasy game. When people read "dynamic environment" most seem to immediately think of the western take it which seems to be a world that gets destroyed in some way.

The variety of content types, especially for larger groups (this IS an MMORPG.) As said, something akin to CoP where you need to actually progress with people to unlock more content and/or locations..which is exactly what all of the older FF games were about for as much shit as people want to give XI for it lol.

I thought the definition of dynamic might be the problem. I really mean a more varied and lively world. Something worth exploring.

And yeah, a good sense of progression over a long period would be nice.

Remember the NPC shops in FFXI?

They were closed at certain times of the day and on certain days of the week. Also, they had a limited supply of items per day, and they could sell out.

I'm not sure if this would necessarily be a great import into FFXIV, but it did give the shops their own life and it made the world feel more real.

One thing that would be more realistic (and would shut down pseudo-exploits like the 'Dawn Drop' fiasco) is if every NPC had a limited amount of gil they could spend on buying things per day or a smart supply-and-demand dynamic pricing model.

After a certain quantity of item 'X' is either bought or sold, the NPC buy/sell price for item 'X' would be adjusted accordingly.

I think this would make the cities and economy of FFXIV seem a bit more real and the NPCs seem less like cardboard cutouts.
