    As someone who played FFXI as my first MMO and love it to hell and back 24,48,and 72 hour NM spawns IS NOT THE RIGHT IDEA. HNM can be open world and spawn with a decent time frame (ie every 2 hours) and still be challenging, having to move your RL schedule around to camp an NM in an MMO is stupid.

    Thing FFXI did great that need to be in FFXIV.

    BCNM
    Assualt type event
    Zeni NM type event
    Normal NM (all types of spawn conditions)
    Nyzul Isle
    Dungeons having coffers

    It's taking plenty of ideas from other games, though. It doesn't hurt to take more from it's predecessor. FFXII is the wonderful game it was because it was heavily influenced by FFXI. But it left out a lot of the bad parts of XI. I don't see why XIV can't do the same. People just like suggesting bad ideas from XI for the most part, like gear swap.

    eve is old as shit, how bout you play one of the 20 New mmo's that are just like the ones you like to play content wise. how bout the people that "dedicate your fucking life to a video game" deserve a NEW A+ mmo to play since there hasn't been one in a while worthy to play. how bout you stop fighting your little mmo evolution on a forum and telling those getting buried to go away.

    they are right yoshi the yes man and everyone rooting him on with horrible casual ideas are sinking the mmo. not saying it won't live past a year but most likely it won't. but if it does it's cause they totally flipped the switch and went a better direction that it looks like it's going now. there is tons wrong with what yoshi is doing, just cause you fit the category of liking the things he is changing and doing don't make them any better then the direction tanaka was taking it.

    the consept of gear swapping is simple, just any new system that allows for gearing your class with every piece of gear it has and being able to use it with ease. how is that a bad thing? it's not, all the bad things people complain about can be fixed and not used in the new system for it. only thing you truely can complain about is i'm too lazy to farm 10items (no space taken stop bitching bout that too) from 10 nm/dungeons/endgame events. that is only valid complaint. other then that all complaints can be fixed. it's 2012, it doesn't necessarily need to be gear that swaps, it doesn't need to blink it doesn't need take up space. it doesn't need to ..hmm what else was bitched about? lol. but this is a totally different thread all together. but it's not such a horrid idea if you get you one track mind out the gutters. it totally adds more content, more gathering, more entertainment for 1class.

    Wait... You're saying that the necessity of gear swapping was a good thing?

    You do realize that the development team had never designed the game to utilize that feature in the same way players had figured out how to use it. After a while, it became 100% necessary because the development team had to up the difficulty on many encounters to accommodate.

    It worked in XI, but the style of game that ARR apparently is becoming, will not be conducive of a gear-swapping system like you saw in XI.

    i hated gear swapping on the principle of realism... when your fighting a giant ass mob when do I have the time to take off my top and quickly put another on... x_x

    Even tho in FF11 gear swapping made the legend of Avesta possible ..i don't wan't that in FF14 ..we are better off to just have a set that helps in everything

    I actually love gear swapping however it's unfair to add a system like that without allowing you to make macros long enough to cover each slot imo(without third pt programs). The only issue I have with gear swapping is that I find just to gear one job takes 76/80 inventory

    Gear swapping is problematic, because it's a cop-out for actual character building.

    100% gear dependency is not the way to go.
