Personally, I can't wait!
But, if I wasn't excited, I wouldn't be on the forum wasting my (and everyone else 's) time by having another rehashed version of this "discussion".

I really don't liek change that ARR bring...but i give the game a try...
What i think is that, from the beginning FFXIV try to emulate other MMORPG game style and make a little innovation.
I played FFXIV from beta to current time then I enjoyed square enix work...but....
I continue to love much the possibilities that only FFXI offer.
For example you can write and chat with other person during fight.
This "action/fast fight" bring FFXIV to be a sort of GW, where when you fight you can only focus on that.
Probably you can say that what I want is a FFXI with a new graphic and a new story, and probably that's true...
But at leat FFXI remain more social in mechanic
Not terribly. It's high on my radar, but only insofar as Final Fantasy XIV made an enormous impression on me in the beginning, gave me some important friends, and some special memories and experiences to make it worthwhile.
Over time Yoshida's crew have been eroding my enthusiasm for the game as a long-term prospect, undermining all the little things I felt gave the game inherent value and set it apart and prioritising things I don't really consider positive, so for now I'm just waiting, and hoping v2.0'll re-hook me come time I get to see it. Either that, or will just prove once and for all to no longer care about the things I think matter in this sort of game, and let me go.
Thanks for making the thread though Azurymber; it felt nice getting to say that.

Everyone talks about no information and no one talking about 2.0. Well you would be wrong I have a friend who swore they would never play this game and only play 11. Well my friend said the Japanese players are talking about the game and even if we hate to admit it that is the base players that they are wooing. I might not like it much either but that is the reality of playing a Japanese game most of the information goes to them. My friend is Japanese and hates this game but admits the news coming out is positive. So while we might not get a lot of info but that doesn't mean it's not out there. I personally think we have had a lot of info and yes its from the interviews not on the site but its still information. I just would like to know where you buy a game and know everything about it? I played Skyrim because a friend told me about it. I didn't know how the game worked. Reading a small bit on the back of a game doesn't really tell you anything and yes I could have looked it up on the internet but how much info would that have gotten me. I know some people want to know everyone single thing about the game but how realistic is that? I don't think any game tells you every single aspect of the game.
I look forward to playing the game and yes it has been hard these last few months but the end is near and the beginning around the corner. Hope to see you all there.
Considering I wouldn't care if the game was delayed or even canceled, I don't know how I could say I'm psyched. I'll try the beta, but there needs to be a great deal of convincing before I believe it will be involving and challenging.
Or it couldn't. This is SE we're talking about.
Precisely.
What are we talking about again? hmmmThis is SE we're talking about.
Mediocre interest here.
If a friend or two continues into ARR, I probably will too. That will likely last at least a month, maybe two. Longer if I can enjoyably level a new character to multiple 50s. Wouldn't guess longer than six.
I'd like to be able to see some of the smoothness of UI and party-gathering in place. If the quests still have the occasional bit of dialogue worth reading, actually kind of stellar for an MMO, I might even enjoy the added quests once through.
Not to pull someone else's string, but I guess I too would have rather seen the original 1.0 goals far better pulled off under a rehauled framework. The only advantage I can presently see is that whatever's new, even if mediocre, has enough content to run through with some interest until that content's been seen once or twice. That said, I could use any MMO for that. I'll use ARR because it costs $5 less per month on Legacy, and because it has my 1.0 character.
