Last I checked, it doesn't hurt anyone to be enthusiastic about a game release.
Yeah, everytime I see a person say " this game is going to fail" or " I feel like this game is not going to make it" it makes me not want to be excited about XIV when I really truly am. I mean it's fine to let out your emotions.. but when you start to repeat those actions... it's like your shoving down your negativity down peoples throats and that's when it starts to get annoying.

I am excited but also incredibly frustrated. I find myself saying if this game releases instead of when because it just doesn't feel like we are getting any closer. The alpha/beta test will be a huge step closer to making it happen and will make players more confident in the game. I am expecting them to delay the start of testing though.

People who are still playing now will still play 2.0. I'm satisfied with the ending of 1.0 and looking forward to the rumored live event in November. They only thing that will make 2.0 successful is if the game is fun. The popularity will increase if people continue to enjoy the game past the first month.

...what? Logistically, it doesn't make a lot of sense to waste a ton of resources trying to improve 1.x when you could instead divert that energy to making 2.0 better. I'm surprised they've fixed as much as they have. The only thing I find galling is the stubborn muleish insistence that terribad drop rates are a-ok, which will cause me not to play 2.0 at all if that doesn't COMPLETELY CHANGE.

Marketing a "fixed" game will not work. No matter how many ads are posted online and on tv, there is too much negativity associated with xiv. And negativity on the internet doesn't disappear.

So I'm curious to see if other people are psyched about ARR. How impressed are you by the last 2 months? Is the info sufficient to make your mouth water? Do you honestly believe that ARR will be the best MMO out there?
I don't know how other people feel, but I'm not going to try to get a bunch of people to play this game until I've actually played it. I don't care if they had a marketing blitz of videos that played original content of 2.0 on their YouTube page like 24 hours a day every day until launch... After getting like 40+ people to play at launch, having all but like 1 of them quit... I just can't be bothered until I'm really playing it and I really feel impressed enough to let another human being know that I think the game is good.

Also, pretty much anyone who has suffered through 1.x up until now will either undoubtedly come back to try out 2.0, or is absolutely crazy. Why punish yourself playing this "game" for any reason other than to set yourself up for 2.0? It's clearly subpar, and no rational person should subject themselves to such abject horror for no particular reason.

The sky isn't falling, yo. Just check out 2.0 when it launches. If it's good enough, play it. Maybe even tell someone about it. Done.

Or, here's a thought...maybe, just maybe people who were already playing just want to finish up loose ends?

I am incredibly excited. Ugly animations aside, I'm having a hard time deciding what I want to do first.

I'll log in, watch the new CS explaining the new world (I'm sure we'll have one), then... I don't know. Maybe I'll put on my walking boots, call Kwefka over, and start exploring the new maps. Maybe I'll visit Fishermen's Bottom, see what new flies and lures are available. I could get myself a new rod and learn the new fishing mechanic, at the same time learning what fish are available and where. I could run to the Arcanists guild and start learning the new class. Maybe I'll rush off to the Limsa housing area and buy myself a beautiful piece of land right on the water. With the help of my friends I could get it set up into a cozy little place where my shell will enjoy hanging out.

And that's just in La Noscea!

The entire world will be different, with new quests and areas and fights and adventures to be had. Sure their marketing kinda sucks, but I know for a fact all of my friends and I will be there to see what's new. The launch of the game will have a lot to do, and there's more being worked on down the road (like musketeer!). Personally, I'm very very excited.

    I'm like 50/50

I'm always excited to try a new SE game. Just that...I have not seen nearly enough to honestly get hyped over it because I do not know much about it I've stopped trying to convince my friends to play...gave up on that after the infamous "flood" never happened.

They need to share a lot more with us..or at least let us try to beta before I can really decide. Not that excited about the beta either...

The gambit system looks promising, all the fan service and open world content....that stuff I look forward to I guess...

Imagine meteor getting closer every 3 days.
New monsters falling from the sky
npcs being killed (and not just disappearing but lying on the ground dead where they used to stand)
Monsters in all the main cities

They seriously could have pulled off a 2-month long apocalypse with minimal effort. A few new mobs which they could have just based on old ones (ex. death elementals, mutated mobs), and a week-long ending event.

Instead a few extra cactaur spawned at some camps and stuff like that....
And there doesn`t seem to be any actual information about what ending event there will be.

SE had the opportunity to create a ton of pre-end tensions and actually destroy their own world (which would have been great symbolically)
It also would have attracted a -ton- of people back if they did it without closing registration until the last week. And all those people witnessing an entire MMO world utterly destroyed, would want to know what happened after (which they would find out in AAR)

That`s good marketing. And SE gave up one of the best marketing and promotional opportunities of all time.

I hope the ending week will be good :x

According to the last news article on the Lodestone, people are panicking. Um...where exactly? Hopefully, they saved the best stuff for the end, but the build-up has been so underwhelming. Random monsters popping en masse at certain areas on the map, does not exactly have me on the edge of my seat.

I have enjoyed the Grand Company quests, though. They did a good job on that part.
