What's a fantasy world without capes?

Seeing as how this game is making great use of physics-based animation, it makes me wonder why not implement capes into the mix. I would love to be rockin a cape in FFXIV. What do you think SE? Could this ever be possible? There's an elezen rocking a black one over his plate armor in the background of the CG intro when the hyur is picking his leve at the glowy counter. It would be great if capes could come as a separate piece of equippable gear with their own slot and attributes; but as unrealistic as that seems at this point, I'd settle for it being a part of certain pieces of armor/gear. Perhaps in some upcoming artifact armor (paladin/dark knight) or even hooded capes (thief/ranger).

Nothing says high ranking epicness like a cape in final fantasy, especially with the graphics/physics capabilities FFXIV is capable of. Not a priority, but a suggestion nonetheless.

sephiroth had a black cape, he was always referred to as "the man with the black cape" but anyway jobs are getting there own armour maybe paladin will get capes

give us capes and allow us to turn them off and on. As long as the cape don't look ugly i wont mind.

All I can think of is Gabranth. If He can pull off the look, any gladiator can. I don't think I'd want one as Con or Thaum though unless they found a way for it to cover the shoulders and be more of a cloak.

Ya i was thinking that would be pretty cool way to show off our linkshell. But wont this mess up the point of having capes for more int,str and so on? maybe it could be a cape that we could switch how it look to our linkshell look or just leave it as it is then it wont be bad of a system.
