How about gear that needs to be crafted from materials only found in dungeons?

How about gear that needs to be crafted from materials only found in dungeons?
If we had areas within dungeons where the timers would be paused, and the gathering points (requiring, of course, DoL classes) were found at those points, then that shouldn't be an issue. Still seems a bit gimmicky though.

crafting is lame

Something I'd like to see is high end U/U crafted gear, using U/U materials that are dropped by bosses and gathered from high grade nodes. The end result being that someone needs to be skilled in all three manners of play to obtain it.

That's sort of what the original plan was, minus the gathering. I do agree with you though, we have these classes in the game and I think they should but fundamental in more than just moving the economy around.

Yeah... part of the problem though is that every time I mention "U/U crafted gear", people always bitch "But then I won't be able to sell it!" ...umm... that's kinda the point. Makes crafting useful for making you more effective, rather than just making gil.
I agree with the idea, but there would have to be a way to make items for non-crafters. Even though some of us will, you can't reasonably expect all end game players to level all crafts to 50.

Yeah that's why I don't think making them U/U is a great idea... But if they had a craft request system like we have for materia melding and repairs it wouldn't be an issue.

I never said I want this to be what's done for ALL endgame gear. There should be plenty of normal drops and normal crafted items for other folks.
I'll retort that you can't reasonably expect players who don't put forth the extra effort to get all the benefits of the people who do.
