    I, for once, loved the concept of a different physical level from the class/job/weapon or skill you were using. It was a powerful concept
    There was nothing "powerful" about this concept. It made job levels less meaningful, and also hte physical level was pointless because you would max it out or nearly max it out with one or two classes and it would then cease to have any meaning. The only real benefit the system had was making your 2nd and subsequent classes a little easier to level.

    The only thing I liked from the (very) original version was the very original battle system, with its ATB-like feel. I kinda thought that could have been developed further, but it was ditched pretty quickly (even though it was ditched by Tanaka's team, not Yoshida's).

    (context: original battle system meaning the first one, not original meaning new idea)

    I don't say this to mean I didn't like the game at all, but rather that I like the improvements that are being made a lot more.
