I hope they don't use the high tech. At least not for Eorzea. Maybe for Garlean tech, but not for the main stuff. A big appeal is the whole early Renaissance style it's got going on.Damn >.>.
Well Yoshida is probably going to do boats/airships.
While I know airships is all iconic to him, I think starting closer to the ground as a matter of large vehicles would be good.. lol
Also apparently there is a big interest in the high tech FF12 airships (Yoshida has at least) but I'd really love to see some classic propeller airships ;_; lol

How do you swap on the fly?
Evrytime I gather on a low lvl DoL, and get attacked, I can't switch to a high lvl DoW/M fast enough, to kill my attackers.
I agree with the many who say the original (Tanaka) version of FFXIV was full of promise but poorly implemented. I think the armoury system was (is) fantastic, and I liked the idea (not the implementation) of physical level vs class rank. But what I miss most of all from Yoshida's changes is the old THM! In fact, I think both THM and CNJ really got messed up by the changes when the job system was introduced. Where THM used to be a light/dark mage with DOTs and debuffs - a highly strategic class - it is now a stripped down 1/2 elemental mage designed to be the natural precursor to BLM. None of the concept of Thaumaturgy has been retained, and it's distinctiveness is completely lost, as no other class had those light/dark, DOT, or debuff abilities. CNJ, similarly, is the other 1/2 elemental mage in a weak nod to its Tanaka-era roots, and also suffers from precursor-to-job syndrome.
I do like the job system, and I think that it is a good direction, going forward, but they didn't have to gut the THM so utterly into a completely unrecognizable pre-BLM nuke machine to do it, did they?
Well, it's a little late to complain now, I guess :P But that's what I miss the most from Tanaka's game.

His systems were half-finished and poorly implemented. Had he more time perhaps the game would have launched better but we'll never know now. Every unique thing he did was executed poorly.
ARR is hardly a WoW clone. Using features that have become the standard in MMOs for good reason doesn't make it a clone. It brings it up to par with the genre as of the past few years. This can be used as a base, to expand on. Get the foundation set properly then try the unique things that may or may not be received well.
Multiple choices of material sets to produce the same armor would have a huge step potentially. Mixing dyes, more dyes in general, and using dyes on specific areas of the gear (blue on the cloth, slightly amber-browned metal) would have been pretty cool too.Wait no. I found the video.

If only they had gotten the server framework, UI, and battle sub-mechanics right from the start, we could probably have all that and much, much more now...

i miss the way we exp. lets see 15man grinds, if you went afk you got no exp, you couldn't pl, you couldn't leech, you couldn't be half assing it. you couldn't really duel box less you use 3rd party cheats and bots. i love large party stuff, i love forced party play, don't want to play with others go play offline games.
just this specific thing already shows the premise of what the game and it's end game would of been like. 15man events for small stuff even. i had huge huge hopes for large linkshell events. the words company actually made me image something epic not the garbage it was used for now.
he and SE failed us by launching early and now they are giving the game to a totally different crowd so they can just make there money off of quite frankly the people that are what i call "the problem with this world today" lol but anyway.
even if yes man yoshi did good stuff to the game, it's not like these things wouldn't or couldn't of been in a tanaka vision mmo if he was given the time and a good server framwork to work with. only thing that changed is they totally sold out.
