It still makes me laugh when I read that some people are actually against jump in a MMO.We did have choices, but ultimately it was Yoshi's directions that had the last say. And he didn't always listen to the forums. Like how "everyone" was against jumping.
It's kinda short-sighted to make such a blanket statement and place all blame for whatever's 'wrong' with the game on "the players". But I guess if you feel like you want to stand out as the guy who, "was against this all along! You should've listened to me but did you all? Nooooooo you just wanted your happy-go-lucky-dappy-and-ducky game! Thanks for ruining my experience! YOU ALL SUCK", then please go right ahead. I'm sure SE will listen and give an appropriate response.

lol probably because the greater majority of people aren't against jumping, and/or cant come up with any real good reasons to be against jumping.
The reasons for the changes i mentioned had good enough reasons from people, and most likely reasons that were shared and/or understood by yoshida and the dev team. Of course they aren't going to do something absolutely stupid to the game 'cuz we said so', just things that are stupid to the 'select few'. Rarely does anyone come at them with stupid suggestions either.
Not saying the yoshida and the dev team didn't think of some of the things themselves, like TP starting out full in ARR for one, just we helped them with A LOT of the changes that happened in 1.0.

ive played alot of MMOs.. and the only use ive seen for jump was for 2 people to jump around in pvp like mating mosquitoes. it dosent help you avoid dmg, it dosent help you deal dmg. it dosent make you faster (dunno why people think this) it dosent let you reach new areas faster (those areas are unreachable in that direction by design)
actually i take that back.. in WoW playing hunter, you could jump, turn around, shoot and arrow and turn -back- around and not lose your momentum. so fine, 1 use for jump
It helps makes traversing easier and more fun, that alone is worth jump. Even in a game like 1.0 and XI where it was designed with no jump in mind I always felt like I wish I could jump at some parts of the map. But I'm not gonna start this, it have been done to death on the forums.

how does it make it easier? you go the same speed, you cant jump up anything. and for anything you can "jump off of" you can just run down. its pointless.
Really? If you're running and you come to a fence, you have to run all the way around it to continue instead of just jumping over it. How does that not make it faster to get to your destination?
In this game there are obstacles on the road that would be easier to avoid if you could jump over them. And if you don't like the /jump feature don't use it.ive played alot of MMOs.. and the only use ive seen for jump was for 2 people to jump around in pvp like mating mosquitoes. it dosent help you avoid dmg, it dosent help you deal dmg. it dosent make you faster (dunno why people think this) it dosent let you reach new areas faster (those areas are unreachable in that direction by design)

all you have to do is not run into stuff. i'd be all for it if there was some purpose.. like brd has to be in the air to use wide volley, awesome.
because the time it took to develop and animate took their attention from something else. as was mentioned before, taking away our more realistic movement animationsSo why is it's addition so bad? If it serves no purpose, it doesn't hurt anybody being in the game.
