Mini-Event [Non-GM] - "Cactuar Assault!"

The cactuar, every citizen of Eorzea knows the prickly seedkin. Their needles are used from making sewing tools, acupuncture, and once even carried varying kinds of bugs used in applying colors to leather, wood, and other goods. Little would anyone imagine the normally docile seedkins would turn violent and launch an assault on the city of Ul'dah!




Through powerful wards they were repelled from marching into the city as a group of brave adventurers risked their own safety to bring about the end of the seedkin assault.



Cheers of triumph rang out as the last one fell before their might. Once more, Ul'dah was safe, for now.


Story Behind The Event

Two members of my Linkshell and myself were bored this evening and just sat around the main gate into Ul'dah just chatting and as people came in, we'd greet them. It was fun for awhile until I remembered a little something, the cactuar around Camp Black Brush do not leash, interestingly they will keep chasing you until you either perish, or they lose sight of you. So we thought it would be fun to have a cactuar standing at the main gate while we greeted people. "Welcome to Ul'dah! Beware the cactuar in the area!" and right there is standing a cactuar.



Eventually it turned into a full-scale event as more and more players showed up. Suddenly it turned into an event to fight against the seedkin that had for so long plagued the lands near Black Brush. People were confused, surprised even thinking this was some kind of event put together by SE. Afraid not, it was just a linkshell having a little fun. In the end several people enjoyed it and asked for more. One player even said:

"This is more fun than Atomos!"

And interestingly, there was no specific reward for this either! I kind of wish we could have because what was supposed to be for fun suddenly turned into a mini-event on its own, especially when we fought the toughest Cactuar himself and it started chasing after whoever had the most hate. There was maybe one or two deaths overall that I can count but moral is, you never know what kind of chaos that can come about if you try!
