I am not suggesting cloning, but Yoshi has mentioned several games he wants to out-do. Most of the suggestuions above exist in games like Skyrim, FFXII, FFXIII, FFIX, FFVIII, Pokemon, Fable, Secret World. In fact I love to rearrange stuff in my house in Skyrim.... and I like having several houses of different types... though I'm always forgetting where I put stuff. I like clothes dummies where I can put complete outfits so I don't have to carry them around. Then I change outfits around because I like a different look ot different stats. Gardening could be a wonderful hobby... raising rare plants and landscaping just right. Animal breeding is a real time sponge. Remember the effort to raise the perfect racing chocobo? Need I say that SE has a history of wonderful stories? Many of the recent games are story heavy and are delightful. I like to trace down stuff. The Eggstravaganza intertwined quests were a delight for last Haloween. The quickies like Fire-dancing bombs are fun. But the meaty ones like Raven with the Prayer followup was wonderful. SE can do it. Yoshida has been making references to a recreation/game something, races, gambling, deep stories, seasonal events and a lot of stuff mentioned here. The dye system comes with rare colors that are hard to come by. Now.... music.... I don't think they mentioned that. Oh they did say you can mount the skull of your favorite boss on your den wall... lol. And he did mention cooking...

I'm glad this thread seems to have found it's base. I'm loving the suggestions so far, wouldn't it be great to log in to the game and have to ask yourself what you want to do today?

Have alot of content that takes time to complete, have so much content that's deep enough you can't just do it all in one sitting, make it so you have to make a choice on what to do but always feel that at the end of the day you made solid progress.

It would be great if we could track progress, it really puts your goal into perspective.

As usual, fusional doesn't contribute anything to a discussion, let alone one with a legitimate foundation.

Ideas that should be added in the form of content, to give the game more depth and better atmosphere while simultaneously giving the player a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world are as follows:

    1) Side quests: Not only should these small quests yield experience and other rewards for completion (which they definitely should), but they should be done in a similar form to FFXI's quests. Each one should have it's own little story and premise, that as you go through it, you learn more of the world and it's going-ons. Each quest should be fairly unique, and each one should be it's own story that ties into the main world in a small way. Artifact quests (weapon, armor, etc) already behave like this to a degree, but I want to see deeper stories.

    2) Marks. Marks. Marks. Give players a reason to kill an NM - marks fulfill this purpose. Provide each tavern, inn, or guild with some form of bounty board where the player and the party can go to pick up some quick quests in the form of hunting and killing NMs. Not only that, but give NMs their own unique spawn method - whether it's a window, force pop, a special ritual, or some other popping method, and make questing to kill each Mark a small adventure in it's own right. If you want, make them repeatable - offer small rewards for completion of the mark, varying with difficulty and rarity.

    3) Housing. I haven't touched much upon this subject yet, but it is a popular thing in FFXI for people to pay special mind to their MH, so they can place their own style in it and make it their own space. People do the same with interior decorating IRL - give us quality housing in ARR so people can design their own home and add onto it at their leisure.

    4) Chocobo raising: another subject that has been touched upon, I'm sure, and will hopefully allow players to fully breed their own chocobos and even have them stay on their 'ranch.' But, make it less annoying than FFXI - I left the game for several months and came back at one point. I had THOSE 3 months worth of cutscenes to catch up on for my chocobo.. what a drag that was.

    5) PvP Arena. Allow players to do battle with one-another in a controlled environment. Up the ante, and even let other players view the activity - maybe allow spectators to place bets, so that they can make (or lose) a little bit of gil while having some fun. Even add to this with tournaments, so people can finally get some bragging rights and even claim some reward in the process.

Other content includes dungeons, bosses, HNMs, and all of the other things. Depending on the complexity of all the content, I'm sure some of it could even be interlinked, like HNMs being Marks, etc. I'm just hoping that they make a REALLY good loot system for ARR, so people can get new stuff on a fairly regular basis..

    Those are my five cents~

Oh man imagine having a big pool of marks for the game to assign to each regions tavern, you can take on whatever mark the guild has selected for the day and get points for your bounty. Some days it would be a epic beast the would take a large group to take on, other days it's a small monster that most people could solo and scale the rewards. Make it assign randomly (Please don't make it easy to discern the pattern) and you have people looking at marks daily.

I like all of the above concepts!
I love the bestiary idea and the recipes reminds me of how fun it was to have Blue Mage with learning all of the spells from various breeds of animals being a mini game.

Also PUP with all of the accessories and BST in the same fashion. Add Beastmaster and after unlocking major achievements being able to keep [some] of his pets in cages in his house to use for animal competitions/races or battle like in xiv.

I know people have their favorites for new jobs though, so I doubt we could get similar or revised xiv type flashback jobs for BST, PUP,BLU in 2.0 but my point is that they all add something to do in the game outside of sliding your abilities around in your stats panel with level up.

I really hope we can get gardening, I thought I heard about it being related to housing but perhaps it could be available to all but more elaborately modified into more options if you are a Botanist gardener.

Anything that works further on the current concept of housing, in the idea of giving crafters more things to do is a plus. I also like Advanced or Hard Mode options expanded into as many activities as possible.

I also miss having a moogle in my house but I do not recall if that is part of the new housing or not. It would be cool to expand on the things the moogle does but not only described in text [Screen goes dark for a sec indicating time transition, then "I just did your (task name)."] where it is left for your imagination but the moogle actually does it before your eyes when you give him tasks.

Return of Gobbie bags inventory expansions with more elaborate quests [more steps] through achievements, through crafting?

Finally I hope they go much farther with development of the path companion being available more often or perhaps any time and for exping together. [path companion starting as a level 1].

Also I have trivia questions, was BST able to 'Tame' a Chocobo for battle?
Was BLU able to learn abilities from Chocobos?

I think you may have meant Free Companies? Nonetheless, I love the thought of this idea; Culinarian is my guilty pleasure. I would never leave the kitchen *u* Make ALL the foods!

Thought it was kinda weird (myself an avid angler, in game and out) that their wasn't an achievement for catching one of each type of fish in the game.

That would be something fun to work towards.

The cooking thing definitely got my attention, seeing that I follow the Chinese philosophy of meeting new critters: "Is it edible, and if so, what's the best way of cooking it? If not, how can I cook it to make it so?"
