Aren't holiday quests a waste of development time and effort right now?

Game's about to be lapped by a simple WoW clone. That is freaking embarassing. You should be ashamed. I'm embarassed as hell right now to be sitting here anticipating a damn egg hunt instead of company release and battle engine.

I like Seasonal Events and as others have stated, they're not developed by the same portion of the team working on the major combat fixes. So no, I don't think they're a waste of time. Even if the content is minimal it at least creates a placeholder showing me which events will be done each year. That way I have things to look forward to the next time around.

Honestly though I kind if liked the Heavensturn and Starlight events because at least we got some gear out of it.

Also Peregrine are you talking about Rift? From what I've heard it's really not worth the time and will likely lose it's player base once WoW releases some new content. That's the major flaw of WoW clones.

Last I checked Rift had already lost a huge number of its players because of it simply being a wow clone and they can't maintain their player base past the first month of ownership.

Oh? Not that i'm doubting it or anything, its just quite a few people have led me to believe its the next best thing since sliced bread. Is the free month period up and quite a few people are just not subbing? I think every MMO has that happen to them though.

you have this new breed of MMO player called a tourist, and over half the population of every game coming out now is one of them, they try every game for a month or 2 and are done and move on to the next, and they are at every launch

From what I've been hearing from my ring of rl and online Friends who tried it, the most common string of comments I've heard is a mix of "I played it in open beta/first month, for about 4 or 5 hours", "It was fun for the time I played", "It just isn't interesting enough to keep my attention." and "I've already uninstalled it."

Thats my thinking now as well, especially after WoW has come out. My thinking is that since rift is claimed to be so much like WoW (I can't say since i've not tried it) that once they give it a try its like WoW but without my progress i've made in WoW, and i'm sure a good portion migrate back.

From my standpoint, if I were still playing WoW and had substantial progress in it, i'd go back as well after trying something that supposedly plays almost just like it (once again can't say that for certain, just what i've heard). Well its been 5 posts and we haven't heard from peregine, let me get this back on topic. So peregine, which holiday event are you looking forward to next?
