you mean effects animation = character movements.Umm no. FF11 Weapon skills are more graphically appealing. That's what this game is lacking. Particle affects? I can care less. I can guarantee you 80% of the player base who wanted a new game would want better, stronger, bigger, flashier, sky filling, mind blowing animations.
Dont get me wrong FF14 has maybe 2 GOOD animations and 1 being Arrow Helix. Why is it that they put more effort into that weaponskill and shat on all the others?
And honestly I perfer ffxiv over ffxi. I hate gaudy explotions from completely out of no where.
like I said there are only so many ways to swing a weapon. And ffxi also had repeated character animations more notable were sword skills. First 3 had the same aninmation.
And honestly the animation imo are fine considering they are done through motion capture and not artificialy created. ppl are forgeting that. And I find it annoying that they did. And having articitial movement mixed will look off.

Anyway Actually I played ffxi on the ps2 and 360. I don't/can't play games on pc. More importently, It was just an opinion. I don't like gaudy explosions from out of no where. It was just eye candy that covered up what your character was doing. I perfer the ones on ffxiv.
As for animations, bith ffxiv and ffxi did the same thing, they repeated animations as because its well easier/ faster to do. And more importently again, there is so wany different ways to swing a weapon around.
XIV's 1-50 animations are pretty superior to that of XI's. As time goes on, XIV's 51-75 animations will be as well.

I dont understand how can anyone defend the animations we currently have.
FFXI was a long time ago when standard were not so high.
All battle animations we have currently fall way below standards.i dont think is even a discussion.

the quality of the animations is ok, the problem with them is
A) there's too few
B) several of the single target ones share animations with the multi target ones ( I suppose this is to indicate what part of the monster they hit rather than a range of attacks)
C) some of the animations are exclusive to using skills from OTHER classes (and are also poor indicators of whether or not you're using aoe)
D) the animations arent very flashy barring the few skills that are locked to classes (Luminous spire, arrow helix, seismic smash) and dont pull the "oh but we'll have cooler skills 50-75". because
1) Most other games will give you impressive looking skills way before that level range
2) Most other final fantasy games will give you impressive looking skills way before that level range
3)games that predate xiv will give you impressive looking skills way before that level range
4) a carrot on a string only works so long.
