I dunno. Until now no other developer tried to revived a failed game like that, they never bothered. There are some titles that were supposed to receive 2.0 versions as well, but most of them are still floating in the limbo afaik and nowhere close to be released after being announced years ago. That fact alone speaks a lot I think. Of course, once again, that's just a personal thought

It's true that game developers don't often do this (I think Darkfall is the only game on the horizon re-releasing), but there is a level of expectation, which SE have admitted to themselves, that as a numbered FFXIV they are almost under obligation to fix the game. So while that is commendable, it isn't really ambitious, especially since they have stated on numerous occasions that their game design is a self-proclaimed WoW-clone. And I know that's a cliche to say "WoW clone" and it's almost lost all meaning, but by that I mean SE have admitted to resting on their laurels and basically doing nothing progressive for an MMORPG.

They've thought about adding in swimming, aerial content, etc., but eventually they will have to actually stop thinking about it an add those things if they want to actually look competitive compared to other MMOs.
