Guys, seriously. Since when did a WoW-Clone fail?
Guys, seriously. Since when did a WoW-Clone fail?
I believe that was sarcastic.
Also, Rift didn't really fail. But that's offtop and people like to argue about that.
SWTOR is not a WoW Clone to me... its a clone of Biowares offline RPG's where you played through a strict storyline. WoW did not had thousands of synchronized cutscenes.
its easy to say "WoW Clone" if you have no idea about what you are talking about.
i hope for all of us (and even the pessimists) that ARR could surprise us in a good way. well lets see.
you all sound like that you actually played FF14 ARR yet.
and it has not that much to do to clone anything.. to me.. its just to modernize the FF Online franchise. the offline FF franchise also developed over the years, why a FF14 Online cant?
all that you want is just to have back the good old way of "grind everything" till death back and thats it. because you know it from FF11. just please stop that.. at least ARR differentiates much more then in comparison to FF11, which is a good thing.
in ARR you wont only progress through quests, there are still leves.. and much more dungeons, where you can level through with your group.
which i think is a good thing... i imagine this to be like in the offline ff's like FF12 where you leveled also through dungeons.
personally i dont want to play 1.0. anymore.. even if they implement thousand of contents and patch it till death.. my interest is totally gone . the world design is too awful and boring to me (la noscea, the gridanian forest...) ... the gameplay is unfluent, too old fashioned frumpy and not fun after a while.. and it seems no patch could ever rescue 1.0. for me.. and thats not only my opinion ask the people who left the game, and these forums also. look at the player numbers, they are shrinking and shrinking.
they never could patched 1.0. to success anymore.. it NEEDS a new world, a new gameplay etc. and stuff.. in my opinion they did it right. many LS members are inactive now and wait for 2.0. because they think 1.0. is just boring right now compared to ARR.
and we just have seen starter areas and the basics. the most interesting part to come yet. i mean.. crystal tower and the thousands of boss artworks we have seen ... cant wait how they are going to be in the reboot.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this mentality.

Tonkra, they just want to stick with what didn't work from launch. It is a futile attempt trying to introduce something more accessible to them because anything less flop than ffxiv from launch is a no no for them. hence all this doom and gloom threads from the same guy.
I just want to say to you guys that you can't judge a game without playing it. Please tell me how you can @_@?

This. I log on, then get hit by how stiff everything feels then I log back out and go play something else. My real life friends who started playing with me left after a couple of months after launch and the only reason they have kept their eyes on FFXIV is because of what Yoshi have done with ARR.

TLDR and not dredging anything thats already been said but if I waited for the re-release I'd be totally pissed about all the missed achievements (a MMO staple?) on top of the speculation of where the game is going wouldn't even matter by that point, I'd haved skipped XIV like I did XI eos!
^^Your marketing right thurr
First they could not resolve the server issues so thats wrong. Also FF 11 was nothing like 3 i beat that game so many times 11 never felt like that, only FF 3 and 11 have in common is the job system. All of this didn't need a complete redesign of things that even worked lol. For example the server issues could have been taken care of eventually as they said. Much like instead of just a huge patch, they decided to rebrand the game (2.0) and try to recapture people, that is the main purpose of ARR...not to simply fix issues that could be fixed in normal development, but to basically get new people.
You never played a FF game then. FFXI was damn near FFIII's successor.
Also the ppl trying to say you stand around all day doing nothing when looking for a pt is stupid cause unlike XI you don't need to depend on ppl to get xp, took the xi dev team like 8 years to raise the exp for EP/DC mobs cause then FINALLY REALIZED AFTER 8 FUCKING YEARS MOST CLASSES CANT SOLO AN DC MOB.
All MMOs with quest hubs have several alternatives for questing areas in each level bracket such that you actually do end up actually making that kind of choice.
are still killing mobs, but you have to put in that extra leg work, also they tell you what to kill not you asking, would it be better to kill this or this at my level, what about other areas?
