It's part of the human condition, unfortunately.

It really does annoy me that people expect change to occur RIGHT JUST NOW when they previous asked for a rework of the game, basically. They also asked for patch content to be released asap, rather than in big batches which is why we get v1.1x and v.1.1xa, and yet every time a 1.1xa patch roles around a sea of tears floods the forums.

People expect too much, too soon.

The funny thing is, if he'd put a bit of concept art in there for another couple of future armour sets the community would've totally forgotten what he'd even written.

Nothing like that, I don't expect to get everything right away, but I expect a logical order.

Yoshida himself said the game has to be enjoyable in order to bring more content. Events are content.
I don't care about events if the stats are still broken, if they still have to address the physical level's and armory system's issues.

They announced a letter from the producer with exciting news for this week, but I can't see how they can expect us to be pleased if the main topic is a seasonal event when we still don't know anything about how they're gonna address those things... it's not like I want them fixed now, but I want to know now.

Honestly reading it, the mention of seasonal talk seems more to create a time-line for the players rather then the content included. If this read "Patch 1.17 Outline" then I'd be more worried. Saying:
"Even so, this still won’t make up for all of the time lost from our original schedule." Further creates the image that he wants to get the point across that in-light of everything that has happened in japan they're still trying to get back on track. Using Easter(DATE not event) as one of there stepping stones in order to do that.

Anyways that is what I got out of the "Main Topic" from what all he said. Not that this will have Easter stuff.

Unfortunately. I guess you are right.

When I read the letter I actually had a smile and was happy of what was going to come. I came here to the forums to read what my fellow FFXIV players had to say and I was seriously shocked because of the negativity. It is really insane.


So far we know they are working on the following things:
*Class balance and class changes.
*Battle system changes.
*UI changes.
*Maps.
*Aggro icon on/off toggle.
*Companies (more information before 1.17 on a website dedicated to companies).
*PvE content
*Events

... and many many more I probably forgot about. So can someone please tell me what the problem is? Did you seriously think they were going to change the complete game in just 3 months? They have to basically make a new game for us because we asked for it.

I really fail to understand why we just can't sit back, enjoy the game with what we have now and look forward to better times. Some of you guys really should have a perfect real life to get so worked up because of a game.

lol right on Evenstar. I'd like to get my character up and then when everything is near completion, start a new character to re-experience the new game. Put it this way, the game is only getting better from here on out. That, or you just don't know what the hell is going on, or you just feel out of the loop.

The new team is working on all this stuff since January if I am right. Correct me if I am wrong. Do you seriously think it is possible to develop all the changes they promised in just 3 months? Do you really believe that? Do you have any experience with developing of software that you can use to back it up?

You can release content in small parts, because it is just content. However, you can not release battle and class changes in small bits, because everything is related to each other. If you ever played WoW before a new expansion was about to be released you would exactly know what I mean. So, why are we in such a rush. We are not even paying at this moment. Why can't we just chill, sit back and enjoy what we have until all the new patches arrive? The current situation of Final Fantasy XIV should be considered a BETA, nothing more, but it seems you guys can't grasp that idea. Or should I say you guys DO NOT want to grasp that idea, because you rather just use your time and energy whining like a little kid (this is not directed at you, just saying in general to everyone that is crying like a little kid that just dropped his candy).

First of all, what Reika said. Secondly, they wanted to know what we wanted first, which they only started doing 3 months ago. They know what to do now, and usually it would take much longer to figure something out as complicated as a Battle System and how it will tie into the rest of the game and it's future.

Seriously, you have no clue as to how much work that is to be done, and they are even working through a crisis. I'm not using that as an excuse, but I seriously find myself praising them for working through the recent events. Even if they are only doing it for the business, its still wonderful to hear that we're getting back on track instead of the patch releases being delayed 2 weeks consecutively.

I might do that too, not sure yet. I love my character so not sure I can start over.

I am glad there are a few of us that can just chill and wait for the patches, but I am seriously shocked at the attitude of some of the players here. I have the feeling some people hardly know how to turn on a computer, but still whine about slow developing.

I'm not trying to be an asshole, just a realist. and I think they know their jobs depend on whether they can work through a crisis at this point. But I completely support the dev team and I don't care what type of small content they put out just so long as they're adressing the big issues, which they have. so...I'm gonna go ahead and continue to play some console games xD
