I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
everyone here who is complaining should play dcuo. on the ps3. then go to the station forums. games in worst shape then ffxiv, and ppl who complain, are pretty much unwelcomed.

from http://ffxiv.zam.com/story.html?story=25503&storypage=2ZAM: Do you have an estimated time frame of when players can expect to see that battle patch?
Yoshida: Right now we're working on a high-end dungeon for hardcore players. We want to have the battle changes ready for when that's released. I can't give you an exact date, but I can tell you it will be sometime in the spring. When the dungeon is released, a bunch of battle changes will also come with it.
In the published list of the battle stuff we're planning on implementing, we hope to have pretty much most of that done sometime in the spring. In the spring you'll be getting that high-end dungeon and the first round of battle changes. Not everything, but the first round. You can't just change the rules overnight. There's a lot of stuff that has to change, especially with reassessing all of the attributes and actions of all the classes and rebalancing and adjusting stuff with the armory system. It's going to take a lot of time. But that first big change will come in the spring with the new dungeon.
I'm tired now of all the complaints. If you are not enjoying it - then leave the game. Do it. I mean it, and then come back when they are finished with "Final Fantasy XIV - Take Two". If you are unwilling to do so while they take the game to a level that they believe *you* will find acceptable, then nothing can be done, but staying here complaining when they are no doubt hard at work is just a waste of everyones time, and is clearly driving some of my fellow posters to their wits end.
We are, as I have said quite a few times now, in a game that is effectively under development. People asked for these changes - or so the Poll results said - and yet they are unwilling to give them time to do it. Personally I think they should just shut the servers down until it is complete so I don't have to put up with the level of ignorance that is present here.
Not only do you take bizarre things from what you read, but you ignore any information that has been released before this time. Information on the 'Grand Companies' was only stated to be released just before Patch 1.17 goes live. Nothing more, nothing less. They have also stated that more content would only be added once the Combat is 'fixed' (and by 'content' I assume they mean dungeons etc). Does a Holiday event require a reworking of the current combat system to be fun? Doubtful, and hence why we will get it - though we don't know what else will be present in the patch - yet.
You don't seem to realise just how big this overhaul to Combat will be, if any of you played World of Warcraft, think about what happens to the game each time they do the final patch before an expansion and how out of whack the combat system goes - and that isn't even a true reworking from the ground up.
Anyway, I'm away to lie in a darkened room, any more reading of the forums and I think my head will explode in dissapointment and anger at people.
Problem is some people live under idea that all devs always work on same thing. The trick is, it would be disaster, thats why devs are grouped into treams, which work on certain issues. ITs true with all coding, so thanks to that we are alble to get fixes, changes, updates , and events at same ( or close) time. Cos every issue have a team working on it.

Thank you for quoting that and being one of the few who does not suffer from reading incomprehension.from http://ffxiv.zam.com/story.html?story=25503&storypage=2

People need to chill out already. You don't have to continue playing or stalking the forums to complain about something. 85.2% of the people welcomed changes to FINAL FANTASY XIV that would drastically alter it. That says to me that I would need to be patient.
SE isn't just throwing stuff on top of the current systems in place. They are rebuilding the foundation of it for stronger support. As much as I would have loved some extra info they can't release anything further currently. Also, since dungeons are around the corner it is safe to assume battle changes are coming in 1.17.

It's part of the human condition, unfortunately.
It really does annoy me that people expect change to occur RIGHT JUST NOW when they previous asked for a rework of the game, basically. They also asked for patch content to be released asap, rather than in big batches which is why we get v1.1x and v.1.1xa, and yet every time a 1.1xa patch roles around a sea of tears floods the forums.
People expect too much, too soon.
The funny thing is, if he'd put a bit of concept art in there for another couple of future armour sets the community would've totally forgotten what he'd even written.

Damn read up to page 7 and got fed up with how retarded some people could be so was going to basically post what you said Inurbera.
I mean fuck rofl.

A portion of the changes in patches 1.17 and 1.17a are preparations for the mid- and high-rank PvE content planned for later release.
Also add:
Patch 1.17 will be the first patch(not included 'a','b' minor patches) since side-quests were created so we should see more quests / changed mechanics during this patch as well. Along with seasonal, battle changes(which are 'preparing' for instances), and the other changes they have in store for us.Originally Posted by Letter From the Producer III
I prefer to release fewer quests regularly as part of the monthly patches instead. This may give the impression of less content per patch, but I'd like to try it this way for a span of about two months or so and see how it goes. At the same time, we'll gradually be implementing system-side changes related to quests as well, aimed at improving user-friendliness.
