Before I begin, I'm generally a pretty nice guy. I try not to make threads like this because I'm not very good at making an argument. If you come up with some huge, long-winded rant, or even just a reply to what I am saying, hats off to you. I respect your opinion as much as I do mine. However, I needed to get this off my chest, especially after going to the Tales From Eorzea Thread and reading the first comment:

Instead of posting shitty contests and tid-bits of frivolous lore, could you please give us some ARR updates.

Flood? I don't think so.

(this is an example. I am in no way making a personal attack. Avaraym is most probably a pretty cool guy.)



To all of the idiots who are criticizing that there aren't enough ARR Updates:

You do know that this event is too keep people busy (to some extent) while they work on ARR, right? There is a flood of information - just not for people like us, who literally cling to every single word about it and take it to heart, as we have for a year now. For everyone else, there's article after article after article of information from kotaku, ign, and many other sites and blogs, trailers and multi-hour-long QA sessions, books worth of concept art; crap-tons of lore to read up on, an entire site that explains the class and job systems, the enemies, the races... and much, much more.

The information isn't just for us and we shouldn't expect it to be so. Trailers draw people to the game, not just the people who play it... and it's idiotic to believe that we should be receiving a flood of information when we have already.

And yeah, some of you could reply that you're going to quit because Square Enix isn't releasing enough hype for the game... in that case, do so. You'll be doing the community a favor by giving it one less spoiled brat. And why would you quit a game that you're literally so excited for that you want more information for in the first place?

It's just a game. The updates will come when they come. Don't be such impatient pricks.

And for those who are extremely excited for the game, want more information and can't seem to take it, take a walk. No, seriously. I would very much like you to finish reading this thread, put on some pants, put on some socks and shoes, comb your hair so you look handsome/pretty, and take a walk. If you live near a park, go there. If you don't, go down a few blocks. If it's raining, bring a raincoat and an umbrella and enjoy the sounds of the raindrops as they hit your umbrella.

While you're walking I want you to notice the area around you. Try to take in the wind, the air, the sun... take in life. Real, honest life. Count the times you may hear a bird chirping. Go as long as you want, come back when you want, and relax.

This is just a game - just a bunch of electric wires and circuits using a program that you installed onto it. Yes, you may love it, and yes, you may be excited for it, but now's the time to take a step back and be patient. Enjoy autumn and Halloween. The information will come when it comes. All you need to do is take a step back and relax. Patience is, indeed, a virtue.

As much as there is right in your post I have to also point out that you come across like you just want fight...

I go to work 5 days a week, I go to gym 3 times a week, I socialize with friends, follow the TV shows I like, run in the rain and ugh.. listen the rain drops hit my umbrella... (lol) but I still wouldn't mind some update of WHEN the game is going to be back up.
I actually don't care about the lore that much atm anymore, I just want to know WHEN so I can have some peace of mind.

Am I addicted to the game, no - I can come up with millions of things I can do while the servers are down.
BUT, if my gym now closed the doors for refurbishment I would sure as hell like to know when they open the doors again and what were they refurbishing.

I think people need to vent their frustration and where are they going to do it if not in the forums?

I totally agrre with Avraym. I got patience, i waited more than 1,5 year for ARR, I can wait the game to get delayed till 2015 but at least give some news and THEN do contest or w/e.

Wow.. you knew about ARR 1,5 Years ago? You should have tell Square Enix that Time, then they would have started working on it 6 Month earlier.

It don't really care if it's 1,5 or 1 year ago, the point that i been waiting and i don't have problem to wait more, but at least give some news.

It was announced in Oct 2011, where do you get May from?

And if you dont care if it was 1 year or 1,5 years ago, then you shouldnt care if it will be released in 6 month or 1 year. Everyone would like "more" news and the "flood" will come as soon as Alpha/Beta starts.

And i said it on the first post, i don't care if i need to wait a year or 4 more years to play ARR, the only i want first is some new info since the last thing updated on FFXIV page it's from September 5 or at least some new mods post about 2.0.

About the date, if you go to main page and go to the 2.0 at the left going to the roadmap, outline, etc the date there is 28/05/2011.

Indeed information was released but for a game that has thousands of players already paying in expectation of ARR, is the information enough? Frankly its not, new games release more info then this at this point in the development.(unless its a rockstar game) Still in the dark about PVP, no idea how dungeon timers and the new loot system will work, no idea how summons will work, or penalties for keeping them out. No info on how skills for classes have changed, no info on how primals will be changed (they stated the fights will change), no info on new character creation options, no info on the new market wards/AH, no info on how Level sync will work and a lot of other features...

In the case of most of the features listed above, we know that the feature itself exists but just don't know how it will work and that's the part that matters; "Please look forward to it" "we'll post it in topics", with exactly 2 weeks till the data save date, these kind of answers just don't cut it anymore.

Also in terms of expecting info from Alpha, from the player side, no one is gonna post Alpha info since its a breach of terms and you can lose your account. As opposed to a new game where u don't have the risk of losing your old character data and account so people will be less likely to talk about Alpha features if they do get into Alpha. While SE might release info, they can just as likely not, in fact i think there is more reason not to during the Alpha, since that's when you would make changes to major key features that have issues.

Honestly: How does doing a contest in any way interfere with getting news? How does it prevent any of the community reps (especially those other than the one that made the post) from giving us news? Answer: It doesn't. Once the legalities are out of the way and the contest thread is posted, the reps have literally nothing else to do other than do their usual job.

Actually, I don't know one other game where mounts can fight for you. Mounts in WoW and any other game I know of that has them don't fight.

It's a typical pet system found in numerous F2P games, especially Chinese and Korean ones. "It could be different" you may say..how so? This is why we need solid basic information.
