This point exactly toward the alpha should have started by now, but as we also know we were told Alpha would begin after the worlds go down through a Japanese magazine (either 4gamer or gamewatch)..so if the original roadmap and yoshida himself state "end of sept or early oct" for alpha but then we start getting every other kind of dates thrown around later (alpha in november?), this is when SE needs to clarify or just not say anything at all.

So again, I ask where your source is that launch is going to happen in Nov/Dec???

No one has said anything about 3-4 month downtime. This is purely player speculation and negativity at work.

SE has said that they envisage the launch of ARR for the New Year. As in November and December - that's two months downtime.

If Open beta is starting in January and the roadmap says client 2.0 on sale POST-JANUARY. Then I think we can agree that this will be a minimum of 3 months downtime. That is not speculation.

Being super optimistic, and just going by what SE has said, there is a small possibility that 2.0 could launch Feb 1st. But, and this is not negativity, I happen to think it will be yet another month. Probably March sometime. Maybe April. So I think 4 months of downtime is safe conservative estimate.

If Servers go down November 1st and ARR doesn't launch til June 1st, then you would have to wait 6 months! OMG I never could have figured that out without your help.

You are right, this is not speculation, it's called logic and math. However, your thoughts on when the launch will be is speculation no matter which way you cut it. No one knows, not even SE, when the game will be ready to launch. Pretending otherwise is speculation.

2) Going by what SE hopes and would like to see, ARR could launch January 1st, however unlikely the scenario, the possibility exists! The probability might be greater that SE wil launch ARR in february but this again is pure speculation. This is what you don't understand:

You can think that you are being ultra conservative in yor estimates but at the end of the day nobody gives a rat's tail when you think it will come out because it wont change the fact that the game will come out when SE is ready to launch the damn thing.

But you would rather fill up thread after thread with speculative nonsense like "i think wit will launch in X months because of Y reasons", whereas I am only here to present the facts as they have been presented to us.

Q: When will Final Fantasy XIV 2.0 launch?
A: I expect the first Closed Beta for the Japan and International servers to be held end September or early October, entering Closed Beta 2 this winter and Open Beta in January next year. We will be talking to Shanda Games about the China server, with features such as PvP, blocking 3rd party programs and localization, hence the China server will launch later.
