It'll be like a whiny renaissance for the forums. There will be complaints as far as the eye can see, don't you worry. And most of them will be baseless or built on flimsy arguments, just like always.
You can keep playing. The 1.0 servers will come back up after a little while. Nothing you do during that time will "count," however.
Also, they did say it would take a month or more to convert all the save data for 2.0.
But really... you don't have ANY other games to play to kill the time?
^ This is a given in this forum lol endless coats of whining and complaining with bitching icing xD it will be amusing
Completely agree but going back to the OPs point, why not also let us play, and save progress, in the current version if this testing takes longer. I can't imagine keeping the current server humming along is costing SE much.Always a possibility! Either way, rushing Alpha/Beta test is suicide, they need to take their time with it, idc if it takes till Spring 2013, this is something they need to perfect 100%. If the game isn't Playable, even if the game is the best their is, people won't play it because they would get frustrated with the Network infrastructure of the game ( which to me takes high priority).
Because there wouldn't be the man power to maintain the servers. All devs are going to the 2.0 game.
Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but isn't the outline that everyones quoting the alpha/beta plan line/thing from like.. a year ago? Its where everyone keeps pulling the guidelines from?
I could entirely be wrong, but I swore that was from a year ago. The quotes/interviews/sort from this year still remain.
I'd rather have 5 months without playing ffxiv 1.0 than having again a ffxiv launch failure. We all know SE likes to say nothing and when they say something it's like: please, wait a little longer. lol It's fine to me. I know they are working hard for the success of this game.
No one has said anything about 3-4 month downtime. This is purely player speculation and negativity at work.
SE has said that they envisage the launch of ARR for the New Year. As in November and December - that's two months downtime. I have a very hard time believing they would push this back beyond winter break.
Just goes to show how little faith the forum going player base has in SE.
There is a little Monkey in all of us....
