We have 2 problems with the quest now.
1. The reward is way too useless.
2. The quests are similar and not much different from guildleves.
In my opinion we could turn the quests with just a few changes into one of the best parts of the game experience.
The idea is simple. Instead of having just one goal (kill 8 enemys f.e.) you get a lot of different ones, without changing the enemys number, location or family.
We simply split them up in strong ones and weak ones, with a boss at the end.
The quest can be completet after defeating the weak enemys and the reward gets better and better if you defeat the stronger ones.
For example:
1. You take a quests, just like we are doing it now.
2. You go to the enemys location.
3. This time they are only 2 instead of 8 enemys.
4. After defeating them, stronger ones apear. (same family, higher rank. just like leve difficulty increase)
5. After them the last, again stronger, enemys appear.
6. Defeating them results in facing the Quests Boss. (could again simply be the same enemy, just with a higher rank)
Now you get your reward depending on how far you have got in the quest.
Just defeating the enemys will grand you the reward we have now.
Defeating the strong ones can grand you the +1 version.
Defeating the stronger ones the +2 and defeating the boss the +3 edition of the item we get now.
This would also mean additional content for Mid and High Ranks.
If you want f.e. defeating the boss of a Rank 15 Quest at Rank 15, you would need a party to do so.
This means a motivation for people joining to help people get gear and face together a challange.
Also if we add the funktion that getting defeated results in failing the quest (or the reward your are aiming to get), we would add a big amount of thrill in the game.
It could replace the good intentions of the BCNM's we had in FFXI, beeing a similar aproach.
