So its about 1-2 mil every 3 hours.

I used to spirit bond and one time I made 10 mil, but lately I've only been making my money back, maybe a little profit. But it seems too flakey to make a steady income.

I have a miner 50 but I have no idea what I should be doing with it.
I don't really mine HQ ores very often it seems. I read in BG that perception makes no difference, maybe I should stack VIT? Not even sure if the return on that is any good.

So yeah, any advise please? My jobs available are all DOM and DOW, miner 50, no crafts.
You get gil from other people by doing other people a service. You do something someone else wants, and they will pay you what they feel it is worth.

All you need to do is focus on supplying a need or want. Needs and wants continually change, so if you think you can do one thing forever and make a profit... you're kidding yourself.

If you want to be a miner, mine cobalt, HQ darksteel, or fossilized catalyst things for hours.

The only thing DoW and DoM can do is kill things for items and spirit bond gear. Don't expect to make gil doing something else noone cares about.

Well this threads gone a little off topic hasn't it?

To be serious on the thread itself to anyone looking for real tips on how to make a consistant cash flow in the game it's not easy. Unless you plan on gambling on Spiritbonds your best bet is to search the wards for items you can attain easilly and are in demand.

If you dont have any crafts to 50, level them because youre gonna have a bad time trying to make gil.

Having a combination of products that sell slow for an exorbitant price (1 mil - 100 mil) and fast reasonbly cheap (5k-100k range) is the key to wealth. You want to keep in mind, what your target market is. Players with money generally dont spend it on large purchases, just materia or consumables. The reason, well they can just make it themselves. While the newer players cant wait to make 10 mil to drop it on something that will be dated in a patch. So I never bother to create something extravagant unless some one specifically asks for it. I need a +50 int hat, then I ask well do you have the gil to pay for that?

Food, and consumables such as buttons or elixirs but not forgetting mats will give you a steady income over time while materia and high quality items or multiple melds will net a high source of revenue at irregular intervals.

Checking the wards frequently whenever you're in town is also a good habit to get into, but don't hover. If you have items that sell fast, stick around and keep selling them because that means that a buyer is directly active. I like to check patch notes to see what will sell and make predictions based on that. When black pearls were introduced I managed to get rid of a stack for 80k a pop, was a good day. Being the first to sell a particular item will net huge profits. I also tend not to sell ore simply because there are a legion of botters who are also mining 24/7. Its hard to compete with walmart so I dont bother. On the other hand, buying cheap dark steel ore +1s to make darksteel ingot +1s will net profit everytime. So, if you can make money of the work of others do it.

When Heavens Eye IV was junk I stocked up, hoping it would be useful. Turns out I was right. Making gil is easy if you know what to sell, so check the wards to see what the trends are, mainly what goes quickly and what is the most expensive. Keeping a few luxury items on hand such as double melded avengers, (which are cheap to make and sell around 10 mil) or x2 melds that are in demand is also a smart investment. Waiting around to sell isnt very efficent either, so dual box gather militia items if theyre selling well or spirit bond items that have a good chance to yeild profit during down time. If people are buying mats that drop from mobs for inflated prices, farm them on a class that does aoes, like war or blm. The key is to be efficent and have many forms of income. Players will always pay ridiculous amounts of gil for rare or powerful items, so dont be afraid to sell it for 40+ mil if you manage to meld something worthy of a price like that. Although, this may take awhile.

Also learning how to appraise an item is a must, and dont always go by price history. When dawn drops were being sold, I bought a ton of materials off the wards and jacked the price up 300 %. Mainly, x2 melded avengers, aklurops and a few sargnas. They sold within a week and I made a considerable amount of profit. Doing as little as possible and making the most gil for your time should be your goal so dont let morality play on your conscience. So when in doubt, let greed be a motivating factor.

Also, limit your spending unless there is gil to be made from it. When melding personal items its always good to meld one for yourself and some to sell so at the very least you break even. Like a farmer rotates crops, rotate merchandise week to week. Over saturating a market will do two things, 1. tip off other crafters to whats selling and 2. devalue your product. So if you have a few rare items that are expensive sell them one at a time otherwise you'll be undercutting yourself and potentially may destabilize a market.

There are underhanded methods to reset price histories, such as buying something for 1 gil from a friends retainer over and over again after trading it back to him for that 1gil but I won't get into that, even though its a great way to make sure people know you're selling a +1 x3 int iv meld for 25 mil. Just saying. Although, its much more easier to advertise on a website with a lot of traffic and an auction feature like xivpro.

Remember, undercut by only 1 gil because its nothing personal, just business. Keeping secrets from other crafters isnt a bad idea either. Normally, I wouldn't tell a soul how I make gil because that just creates another competitor but Im on a break until 2.0, enjoy~

I'm a little confused how sticking up for you is "bullying."

Of course, this could also just be some kind of joke that I'm not getting.

Gathering will make you gil, but at the same time youre losing out on a lot of earning potential by not expanding to different markets and have to deal with botters who constantly undercut.
