A handfull of players in this thread have said they would willingly settle for gear purchased via tokens that are slightly less powerfull than the boss dropped versions...
whasamattah? You want Dark Matter instead? I'll take Dimlight over Dark Matter any day...
I cant like your post enough. Well said. I dont want a broken carrot thats been thrown in the mud. Although I will keep my mouth closed till i see it implemented. As a person used to being consider very unlucky I know what its like to run dungeon after dungeon and wait till everyone else has it so I can get. Which involoves rebuilding a group with new memebers because a good majority of people bail once they get what they want. P.S. If you on Durandal and lookn for some loyal peeps to run with, hit me up.So the point of this is what then? It would seem this is an attempt to reward those who actually spend time and don't get lucky? But as stated, anyone who wants the gear in the first place isn't going to settle for anything less than the actual gear itself.
If your going to add guaranteed seal drops make them turned in for the same piece, just make it more than 10. If someone runs 50+ successful Moogle/Ifrit/Garuda/Titan/w/e runs and still doesn't have the piece they want, they deserve to get it on merit alone. Hence the seals.
Don't offer a carrot, then break it in half and throw it in the mud.

If you don't want a mudied carrot (despite the fact that they are grown in dirt) then you can eat rocks for all I care (metaphor for dark matter btw)I cant like your post enough. Well said. Maybe the dropped gear is Uber Powerful but Rare/EX and Unmeldable...
...and maybe the "token-purchased" gear is weaker but is meldable to be equal to the Rare/Ex Drop?
Maybe that would be work?
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.

short answer: no
long answer: nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu (/O.O/) TT
First option is basically saying: "I did the dungeon but didn't get the main drop..so...GIVE ME SOMETHING JUST AS GOOD!", which is basically pointless at that point as they're giving the gear away. The 2nd option is more reasonable as a consolation prize.I'm ok with it if the lower quality gear (Darklight > Dimlight? wakawaka!) is still decent enough to use.
HL Gauntlets: Defense 85 HP+80 Vitality+12 Mind+12 Evasion-20 Magic Evasion+5 Enmity+45
?? Gauntlets: Defense 75 HP+70 Vitality+10 Mind+10 Evasion-25 Magic Evasion+3 Enmity+35
But if it's something like:
?? Gauntlets: Defense 45 HP+40 Vitality+4 Mind+4 Evasion-40 Magic Evasion+2 Enmity+15
Then please spare us. (Also I brought up the lower quality dungeon gear aeons ago and everybody said it was a bad idea but apparently Yoshi disagrees so HAH!)
Not a consolation prize really, since it is to be obtained by tokens and getting all required tokens will surely take many runs.... it's more like: "I did the dungeon MANY TIMES but NEVER got the main drop....I DESERVE SOMETHING FOR MY EFFORT"
Indeed, but given the nature of MMORPGs nowadays I doubt it would really take awhile to get something since people are complaining about 5-15 minute cooldown timers on spammable content lol.

Tell that to everyone who bought primal weapons with tokens. You do realize in his example unless they significantly change the calculations when they go 1:1 that's pretty much giving away the same gear as the main drop, right? 2 extra stats will do absolutely nothing lol so you may as well just hand out the main gear for doing the dungeon once.
It's pointless to give away basically the same gear for failing to obtain the gear you wanted, there has to be a clearcut difference between a "here's your parting gift" type of gear and "here's the shit you want."
Supposedly, in ARR, you won't be able to do the same dungeon more than 4 times per week (unconfirmed)
