I personally would prefer that most of the quests chain together since that should give them the ability to make them feel more story-centric, but the pessimist in me thinks most of them are going to be go kill x amount of things or get x amount of drops from certain monsters.
thats most likely what it will be.. and tying story into meaningless stuff like that is annoying.

hey, go find and bonk 10 skeletons on the head.. and when you get back, i'll tell you about dalamud
..returns
hey... go find and bring me back 20 skeleton pelvic bones.. even though you just killed 10 of them, the pelvic bone can only drop starting now...with a 2% rate... and when youre done, i'll tell you a little more about dalamud.
ohai... back already? with all my pelvic bones? ..you pervert. oh hey.. now theres a boss skeleton over there.. i want you to go kill it and bring me back the big toe on his left foot.. in return.. i'll tell you more about dalamud... and give you this piece of gear you'll never use.

and then you do that for the next few months, just sub out skeleton for whatever random mobs. real interesting.

not to mention, the only efficient way to level with quests is to grab and do 10-20 at a time in bulk... you really want to sit there for an hour trying to read up on all of that crap? keep the story in the story missions at cutscenes.
