I had a buddy Pass, from a collectors edition its up what now?

So my brother bought the collectors edition when FF14 came out and I decided to join in on the fun about a month ago. My buddy pass was a 30 day pass and i than turned it into a subscription so I would not lose my account or something silly. Now the only issue i have now is how do i acquire a copy of the game. I have been every where even looked on the internet they want like 70 to 80 bucks for the game new and i am too scared to buy used copies because most games come with a game key code specific to accounts created. Does anyone know if there is a digital downloading for preexisting players or something that could help me. I would appreciate it.

The buddy pass IS a copy of the game, so you don't need another one. I think account creation has been suspended though, so I think he's SOL.


Edit: yep, here it is. Your brother will have to wait until ARR is released sometime next year.

Well my Account was created before September 30th. So you are saying i won't need to purchase another copy of the game to keep playing. My account is already subscription based? i changed that like the 18 or 20th of September.

So my question to you is the buddy pass allowed me to not have to purchase an actual copy/digital version to keep playing? well i will be able to play the same time my brother does or it will kick one of us off?

oh sorry, I got mixed up. You don't need to buy a copy of the game. The buddy pass IS your copy of the game. Basically the CE was two copies of FFXIV, one for the purchaser and another copy for a friend.

You don't need to purchase the game, since you got it with the buddy pass and you can play with your brother without any problem at the same time. I gave mine to a friend and we both level up together.

It works like this, the Collector's Edition is actually two FULL copies of the game. This is meant so while you pay for your copy you can give a second copy that's a fully working version, to your friend/sibling/neighbor and they can play alongside you. That's why some time ago people used to beg for Buddy Passes, because they were a full functioning copy meaning they'd never have to buy the game beyond the regular subscription price. Now the downfall there is that the Buddy Pass won't come with the bonus items like the Garlond Goggles or Onion Helm unless you have a second copy of the item key as well.

But beyond that, the CE version is two copies of the game with no strings attached.

The buddy pass is a full functional game key. But for the client you need to borrow the DVD from your brother once. Install the client with the DVD, register your account with the buddy pass and you can play it like everyone else.

And later everyone who have already an FF XIV account can download the new FF XIV ARR client for free as soon as it is online.
