    The way i understood the JP text, your limited to 3x participation in the lottery, 3-4 is the amount of times you can challenge the content. No where in the text does it say there is no re-entry time, the 3-4 may be based on a re-entry timer but its not clear. I would assume there will be a re-entry timer on the content since they are trying to get people to do different content, as mentioned in quote 2. If anything i think depending on the content, the re-entry time might differ, for example Primals and Dungeons are both instanced content but the type of battle is different. Win or fail in AV/CC u got to wait 15mins to reenter but if you fail in Primal fight, u can re-enter after 5mins, similarly you can also enter right away if you fail DH. I think timers may be placed depending on the content

    It would be nice to get one of the community reps to clarify this because there seems to be conflicting information all the way around.

    Y: This time in ARR FFXIV instead of having percentage drop on boss monster, we have it made so when you defeat the boss monster you will get some type of reward. Even for rare drop for each party there will be 2-3 item drops, so would like to have that go through lottery within party. But to participate in that lottery it is set for each contents to 3 times per week.
    For that we have reset timer available for each contents so it's to check on those status. Of course for those that didn't make the lottery will get a token (something like a ticket) and by collecting the token there are items you can trade so it's made so that there is some type of result.

    For rare items if you have bad luck that privileged may not come around to you but you can challenge 3-4 times a week and if you still don't get it you can try other contents until you can try to reobtain. For this part it may be hard to understand till you actually play and try it out.
    To me this sounds like lockout timers. I interpret this block as "You can attempt this dungeon three times a week, but if you don't win any items you'll still get tokens which you can accumulate to buy equipment with. You can also do other content that is designed to award tokens to work towards buying equipment as well."

    Tracking how many times someone rolls need/greed per week/whatever block of time seems like a pretty archaic method to me, that's why I think they're going with the industry standard on this.

    The 3-4 a week could be the called reward-timer, not the lockout-timer

    OK could you please explain about the menu social, contents, and live? For the first two we could probably guess from the name.

    Y: For Social it's community related stuff such as friend, linkshell or free company. For Contents when you call up the contents finder you check the time remaining to reobtain rewards for each contents.

    still the system scares me since the tokens only work for lesser gear, and unless like I suggested before and they have other purposes like being lower level gear or expensive full version gear (level 40 dungeon you can also get some awesome level 30 gear). Then as soon as they are out of tries they are going to get up and leave. This will happen even in some statics.

    They may stay if perhaps you can obtain the loot that no one wanted to spend their lot token on though.. Anyway sounds like a trade bad system for bad system but perhaps we need more details.

    My understanding is that the drops are. Just HQ versions of the token gear. Few points more in certain categories but still worthwhile progression as you try for dropped loot.

    Seems to me like we have all the pieces of info, just not in cohesive order due to the split between interviews. All that's left is putting the pieces together. I feel like I have a solid grasp on the new system, but I'm going to take this opportunity to put the pieces together right here so in case I'm missing something, one of the astute individuals who frequent these forums may pick up on it.

    So what do we know for sure? The information given that is perfectly clear is:
    • Defeating a raid boss will lead to 3 guaranteed rare drops.
    • Players will participate in a lottery if they want a drop.
    • Anyone who doesn't obtain a rare drop will be given a token, which they can collect in order to obtain a lower tier drop from that dungeon.

    Now that that's established, let's take a look at where the confusion is:

    Any given player will only be able to participate in lottery for rare loot at any given dungeon 3 times per week.

    What does that mean? Does it mean there will be long reentry timers so that you simply won't be able to do the dungeon more than 3x a week? Will it mean after rolling 3 times you will no longer be allowed to roll until next week?

    Hmm... Let's take a look at the interview segment Rein just translated:

    Interesting. To help understand this visually, it seems the question is in reference to the 7 menu options in the HUD for PS3.


    By Social, Contents and Live, they seem to be referring to the Social Lists, Timers and Logs options in the NA version. That's a simple connection to make with context clues.

    What's really interesting is what is said about the Timers menu. It's the menu where you check the time remaining until you can continue to obtain rewards from content. Nothing about re-entry times. Not even a nod or a slight reference. No acknowledgement that they exist, and had they existed there's no doubt they'd be under a menu option explicitly named Timers that is related to content. However, we have timers for when we can reobtain rewards.

    It seems 4Gamer wanted some clarification on this point as well. It continues:

    Here we see him mentioning again how it is set that for each content we'll be able to participate in lottery 3 times per week.

    Putting all of that together it seems to me that the Timers tab will have cooldown timers not based on when we last attempted/cleared content, but rather when we last participated in lottery. We will go into cooldown in that menu when we participate in lottery for one of the 2-3 dropped rare items, win or lose.

    So essentially, how much loot is given out is not limited by how often you can enter content to try your luck against RNG, but how often you can participate in getting loot.

    So taking the mention of lottery cooldowns and the limit of 3 times a week, one can conclude that participating in a lottery for one of the 2-3 rare drops at any content will put you on cooldown for a period of ~48 hours.

    doesnt that basically mean we are getting screwed again and that what we obtain are set and limited to what SE allows us (xx times per week) as opposed to what we get = how much we farm.

    i can imagine this really crapping it up for endgamers and also pick up parties

    How in the world do they keep coming up with re tarded options like this full of loop holes and UNfun???

    If you wanted to do the dungeon a lot, then I think so. But they are making the dungeons longer. And they are hoping you try other content.

    So hopefully they can make a few dungeons available and you can just sort of cycle through dungeons and open world events (like hamlet seems it will become, yay~). The cycling is their plan I believe, Yoshida's way of stopping a particular content from being spammed.

    I much prefer this system with it's measure of control and predictability compared to what we have now which is essentially spamming content until RNG blesses you.
