Err..you'd think SE would give us INFORMATION AT ALL to begin with lol.
XI was pretty successful and pretty much every project they were apart of including the majority of the offline FF titles xD.

most people don't want to realize the majority of the people working on this game now are people that worked on it originally. they want to act like they changed every member of the staff when only a few members actually changed. these people are also going to be people that worked on many of the other titles previously, but they will still plug their ears and say "nanananana i can't hear you and it's not true"

Probably will be reset.
And I think it should be too.. We will power through the rest of our classes as new people pander and cant keep up with our already advanced asses.
Also SE needs the new content to last while they work on more and letting us go through it faster wont help them out.

A full week of rested exp will only get you into the teens from lvl 1. Its not a big deal whatever way they decide to do it.

It would be great if we had rest exp. by the time servers for ARR went up but it still doesn't cancel the fact of a weeks cap of rested exp.
Also, even if I think it would be great(even awesome at that), it would go against the lore and not make any sense. If you think about it, from the time Dalamud touched down(1.0) and ARR(2.0), when we reappear, if we would have literally rested during that time-gap, we would've been pretty OLD.
In actuality, time stopped for us between the two realms and we don't get any resting bonus until we find a new home and log out for the night.

Rested EXP does have a cap, it's not like you're going to have months worth when it's all over.Anyone know if it's been asked of the devs whether we'll be building rested xp on our characters during the migration downtime?
Didn't get a chance to try and ask during the last live event, and it's something I've been curious about for a while. It would be nice of them to let us build some rested xp since we are unable to play.
Odds are when 2.0 is launched with our current save data we'll have the same rested bonus we had at the time. But I hope I'm wrong in the event I don't already have it maxed out at that time >.>
Most of the senior staff (e.g. the decision makers, not the people who actually create art/content and the engineers) was changed. Most of the rest of the staff was not. However, it's the staff they did change that has the most power to control the direction of the game.they want to act like they changed every member of the staff when only a few members actually changed

last time i looked the staff was over 200 and only a few were completely new, but even those were parts of other final fantasy games so they have worked with most of the others for years and years so will still be along the same lines of thinking. the only one that really doesn't fit is yoshi since he's never worked on a final fantasy game nor been one that has even played many of them to even know what the fans of the series even consider final fantasy. he's having to take advice from others inside of the staff that have experience in dealing with the series why fans like the series. Most of the senior staff (e.g. the decision makers, not the people who actually create art/content and the engineers) was changed. You can't prove and it is fallicious to assume that everyone at SE is like Tanaka was. Like I said- most of that 200+ staff is enginners/artists/etc. Only the directors/producers/etc have changed. There is nothing wrong with the talent coming from people who worked on other Final Fantasy games. That doesn't somehow mean that the game isn't going to change for the better after all this time.last time i looked the staff was over 200 and only a few were completely new, but even those were parts of other final fantasy games so they have worked with most of the others for years and years so will still be along the same lines of thinking.
You seem to be complaining both that many of the new staff members came from earlier final fantasy titles, AND that Yoshida did NOT. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Either you're bothered that they have staff that came past games, or you're bothered that they have someone that didn't come from past games. It would be illogical for you to have a problem with both.
Yoshida seems to be getting more of "what is FF" from the fanbase than from his staff, in my view. The way I see it, Yoshida is the one bringing in fresh concepts while some of the other senior staff members are responsible for supporting those with things that are "final fantasy.'

i'm not complaining about either actually. all i was doing was pointing out the fallacy of people acting like every member of the staff are brand new.
they all discuss how horrible the old coding structure was, but fail to see that this is the same group of coders that did the original. yes, quite a few of the leads are different now, but i'm also not crazy enough to expect a completely new and more stable version using the original group that did the coding for the original bugged release.
