Not saying im for or against this. Its just something I amused myself the other day and wonder what you guys would think.

It goes like this:

LUK stat would be a gear only stat meaning what you have on your gear is what you have. It would never show in your base stats at all. It would be limited to Melding gear only.

This melding gear could only be obtainable after every crafting class reaching 50

It would be worm by DoH classes only

It would be procured through a series of quests from the same goblin NPC that the materia is based around.

The stat itself would translate to 1 LUK = .5% success rate. If you had gear that gave you 10 LUK any meld you attempted would have a +5% success.

The series of quests could involve something like
Quest 1 rewards Ring + 1 LUK
Quest 2 rewards Bracelet + 1 LUK
Quest 3 rewards Feet + 3 LUK
Quest 4 rewards Hands + 5 LUK
Quest 5 rewards Legs + 10 LUK
Quest 6 rewards Head + 10 LUK
Quest 7 rewards Body + 20 LUK

This gives a total of 25% success

These quest needs to be difficult, like uber difficult, involving multiple top tier melds requirements. The reason for the level of difficulty and needing all DoH classes to 50 is so everyone and their sister brother and babies mother arent running around able to meld with a +25% mod added. It needs to be reserved only for the most dedicated. Since skill isnt involved with melding i say dedicated as in those with the most patience, gil, and materials (for crafting and materia)

Yes its not fair, thats the point. Some things need to be reserved to the best of the best. For the sake of reference, i'm not rich nor do i have all DoH to 50, in fact i don't have a single DoH past 15. This is a concept that I think is rewarding, challenging, and builds upon content already implemented. Since multi materia melding is based off luck, i thought the LUK stat would be appropriate. Whats your opinions?

On a side note it would be awesome for a dev to weigh in, but not going to hold my breath on that one.
