I would have like Gogo more.
I would have like Gogo more.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! I was kinda hoping this little thread of mine would be lost to oblivion, and that all arguments would be continued in the "Gogo" thread.
Anyway, I always thought of Amon as a name given to the pallet swap boss simply because they didn't feel like calling him "Hein Clone" or whatever, like "Xande's Clone". It seems more logical to me to call him Hein, but if the devs are sticking to their decision I guess I can't argue. Thankfully I'm not the first/only person to bring this up, so maybe they'll change it.
I see what you all are saying, but the reason I'm bugged by it is the color scheme. They could have chosen the Amon color scheme, but they went with Hein's instead. Even then, Hein is a much more iconic character in FFIII, referenced in both The Spirits Within and FFVIII. So far what Yoshi-P has shown us has been a series of FF icons adapted for XIV. The list is beginning to rival the iconic boss list in Theatrhythm, which is a game designed for throwback, and even that called him Hein. I had to look up the name "Amon" to see what people were talking about, he's so forgettable. It's a weak name reference, and ultimately not that hard for them to change.
Anyway, that's my rant. You don't have to agree with it, and flaming me probably won't change how I feel, nor should it really matter to you.
Edit: They could explain that the character himself discarded the name Hein in favor of Amon. It doesn't have to follow III's canon exactly, but it'd run parallel enough that I can rest easy. Either that, or he can take off that mask to reveal a skeleton face and have his name change to Hein then. Still not canon, but a much stronger allusion.
Heh, Gogo could have recurred as often as Gilgamesh, but I guess he never caught on.
My opinion on the matter is this:
Amon was tied to the crystal tower, and had the better colour pallet (Hein looks washed out).
They also probably didn't want to add Hein because he's a character with a backstory, and I think that they want to keep it to references only.
Zone eater type dungeon (worm type mob who sucks you up) with gogo as a boss who randomly mimics party members attack/spells can i have it?
This has been irking me for a few days now. The concept art shown below depicts Hein, not Amon. The color scheme is clearly that of Hein, and Hein has a backstory where Amon does not. Notice how the Amon page only gives a simple boss strategy, whereas Hein has a story section. I've played FFIII multiple times and can attest to its accuracy.
Edit: It doesn't matter if you think he's Amon because of ties to the Crystal Tower. Amon is nothing more than a pallet swap of Hein.
This isn't FFIII

This notion of "I have a problem with this enemy being called this" is nearly as dumb as the "Why is SE taking my gil?".
Threatening to quit over this is just.. wow.. there are no words to explain it, or at least ones that are acceptable for this forum.
Its Amon if SE says its Amon.
Who threatened to quit over it?
