Hein, not Amon

This has been irking me for a few days now. The concept art shown below depicts Hein, not Amon. The color scheme is clearly that of Hein, and Hein has a backstory where Amon does not. Notice how the Amon page only gives a simple boss strategy, whereas Hein has a story section. I've played FFIII multiple times and can attest to its accuracy.


Edit: It doesn't matter if you think he's Amon because of ties to the Crystal Tower. Amon is nothing more than a pallet swap of Hein.

What lore? It's just a guy who happens to be named Amon and who happens to look like Hein, just like there happens to be a mage from the 5th astral era named Shatotto, which sounds kinda like Shantotto but isn't.

Hein is a unique character only from FFIII that has a unique story. Having him appear on XIV with the same name AND appearance would imply some sort of cameo/dimensional rift sort of like Dissidia.

Amon, on the other hand is a name given to the clone mob with no back story, and thus the name Amon can be used without implications and can receive a back story as a character for a different FF game. You already mentioned the Crystal Tower motif.

So, I think Yoshi P had him named Amon instead of Hein on purpose and that his reasoning essentially was that Hein is an existing unique character in another title already and he only wants the boss type with a new character in XIV.

Given that the argument has already been made that Amon ties directly to the crystal tower I don't see how Yoshi is getting any lore wrong. It's not like he stated it was a prominent figure in the story of final fantasy 3. Just that he is related to the crystal tower and he is from ff3.

As for the coloration... that's being just a little too persnickety. I mean, what next? Complaining that he's not a horribly rendered 8-bit sprite? Complaining that he's not the dapper skeleton he seems to be in those 8-bit renderings?

It would make far more sense from a lore perspective to have him continue to be Amon tied to the crystal tower from ff3 with no real story or lore connections beyond that rather than to pluck a character out of his story and then try and repurpose him for another game and another story.
