Can we play as Chocobo in combat?

Can we play as Chocobo in combat? Being able to select our actions while moving around as the chocobo in combat. Then being able to swap back to our character in mid combat. While doing so our Chocobo is on auto-battle mode.

Basically if you need a cure and your chocobo is retarded and not curing you near death you can force yourself to go to your chocobo and play as him giving yourself a needed cure or song buff or protect or a chicken wing.

Its alwas nice to be in control of what your doing and not relying on AI. Switching shouldnt be needed but doing something yourself is alwas better.

Yeah but with a gambit system you cant tell your chocobo to run behind he pillar or dodge cracks or use buff before hellfire or use buffs before you enter into combat. Gambits are only really a auto-follow system at most and engage when you engage.

Doubtful, especially since from what I remember chocobo partners aren't replacements for real party members so yes you'll still have to play with people for actual encounters.
