    Gil Loss

Is it true that after 2.0 is released we will automatically lose 90% of our gil?

everyone will have 10% of what they own. NPC price also drop, value of item sold to npc aswell.
but here what pepeol dont understand....price at AH wont drop at 10% of the origibal value.
I dont belive pepeol will sell rage meteria IV (actual price around 1M) at 100k.

the most funny things is, players who dont complaint about the new scale 1/10 is those with 1 or max 2 job lvl50. Probably players with less then 1M gils. Im far to be rich, but with the new scale im sure to be poor again.
I dont see why price at AH goes to 1/10. I wont my self sale item at 10%. I' might go at 20% for some item like materia or even a relic weapon double meld and others players will do the same. they will never sale 100k.

No one is losing any gil. Gil is going to be redenominated to 1/10th its original value.

Meaning you will still have all your gil. For example if you have the gil cap right now which is 999,999,999 gil, in 2.0 it will be redenominated and you will have 99,999 gil, meaning that you will only see you as of having 99,999 gil but that 99,999 gil will have the same buying power as your 999,999,999 gil did in 1.0. Think of it as reverse inflation. When the value of 1 dollar is inflated by 10% that means that 1 dollar is now only worth 90 cents instead of 1 dollar, but if you reverse inflate it and it is 10% that means that your 1 dollar is now $1.10

I'm honestly not that worried about the gil. It irritated me at first but I can make it back. But the way this will work. Is that everyone who did the Atomos exploit is gonna be rewarded and the rest of the community is going to feel screwed. Or at least that's the feeling I have been getting from talking to folks over the last few weeks.
Honestly even with them reducing the denomination I do not see it drastically changing the prices of things in the long run. Take away the digit. People will still charge the same percentage they were before. So I honestly do not see this as a solution to the problems that will/would most likely arise for new players.

Also let me clarify. I'm not crying or complaining. I honestly do not see it as a big issue. I'm just pointing out that it's not going to change anything in regards to the market.

This will not be an issue as long as the open market adjusts itself accordingly. And as much as anyone will say it will, we all know that there are greedy people out there. Take this example...
On my server +50 str bracers sell for 30mil, that is 3% of max.
When we get to 2.0, those same bracers (with keeping percentages) should sell for 3 mil.
What will happen... those bracers will be right back on the market for 30mil when 2.0 hits.
And someone will buy them for 30 mil.
Which will make 5 others sell their's for 30 mil.
And the new norm is that the same bracers previously costing 3% of max gil are now going to cost 30%.
Now granted, some of the best war/mnk gloves you can buy in the game probably should be more than 3% of max gil. But saying that the free open market will correct itself is a joke.

I just hope that there is a bunch of content at launch because I'm not touching the wards (besides setting up my retainers icsh) until months after relaunch.

I totally understand where you are coming from. And I'm not saying the market will work itself out. I was actually saying that the Gil reduction is not going to change anything. People selling stuff for 30 mil will turn around in ARR and try to sell it for that much again. I'm honestly hoping that GM's will be able to get more involved with our market in regards to people trying to control the market.
Personally though I do not see the reduction of my Gil as a big deal because IMO this game throws Gil at you.
