It even has its own news section... >.>It wouldn't be a problem if they just updated the www.finalfantasyxiv.com website like they're supposed to be doing.
Excellent news!! It gives me something to look forward to when it arrives. Excitement building.
So you do recognize that there IS a problem?Just sayin, everytime SE does something you always say its "unfair" or some form of. Realize a Japanese company with a Japanese development team will post and market things in Japanese first and foremost. Western companies does this as well. Everyone is on equal footing when it comes to their MMOs, if you don't believe this, play a Korean based MMO localized to English and see how many updates the International (NA/EU) version is behind compared to the original KR version.
We all pay, but SE isn't an NA/EU company, it's a Japanese company. It has branches in other nations but that doesn't mean they handle the same exact development. Even the companies apart of SE now handle their own thing like Eidos, which also gets staggered information in Japanese sometimes despite their team being part of SE now. Hell the EU reps get info that even the JP reps doesn't even post sometimes, so it's not "unfair treatment" or anything, it's simply how the info is being handled. It wouldn't be a problem if they just updated the www.finalfantasyxiv.com website like they're supposed to be doing.

I hope mob AI isn't programmed based on gambit. I want encounters to be more spontaneous and require situational awareness not rote memorization of some formula.
There's no such thing as spontaneous AI. Everything has a set pattern that will eventually repeat sooner or later unless it's "learning" A.I. You fight a Skeleton boss it will always be that same skeleton boss with the same skillset and same stats baring difficulty changes (more hp/additional moves etc.) You fight him in a castle that eventually crumbles and you have to platform through phases..that will always be true the next time you fight it.
Dynamic encounters goes only so far.
I'm fairly certain that we've gotten confirmation that there are two ways to encounter primals; open world encounter that takes you to an instance and then the more common talk to aetheryte and start the encounter (the way it currently is.) The first way is for free companies to summon the primal and the second way is for your every day loot grinding.Hmm I was hoping they would at least keep the instanced primals differently from the ones that roam in the open world. =( Because if its just one of each primal roaming... not many would even get a chance at one or even to see one. Because I'm sure more of the elite LS groups will have the primals on lock if that is the case.
I've played some of the Tales of games, and it sounds a lot like how you program your other party members. Like locking onto the target you are fighting, back-up healing, buffs, etc. Yeah, I see what it's about now. CoolWhile it could seem like it's lazy research, they probably do not want to mess with placing characters from other Final Fantasies' canon into the world of XIV. It's more likely just an homage in appearance, but using the name of the lore-irrelevant version of the boss.
As others have mentioned, the feature of the Gambit system is that you had the choice to automate your party's actions based on commands you programmed. This is what the Gambit menu looked like:
The lower on the list an action is, the lower priority it is for the character. As you can see, the first action a character will use above all else is for if a party member is dead, and so they will use "Phoenix Down" on any character. The game is smart enough to only use it whenever someone is dead so you don't need to specify further. After that, it's to Poisona. Then if all characters' HP are above 70%, it'll go to the next action, which is to cast Aero on any flying-type enemies. If there are none or they are defeated, the character can finally use the basic Attack function on the next closest enemy. I hope that helps.![]()
It's kinda like that but in much more detail.
this game will suffer the same fate of FFXI of never getting content advancements as tech gets better. other MMO's get updated with expansions and just for the hell of it after so long.
yeah it will the ps3 is already 6 years old, thats ancient already. ps2 did limit FFXI. PC only games get major over hauls. even wow got new system/graphic upgrades with each expansionPS3 won't limit XIV just like the PS2 didn't limit XI till they started expanding past it's initial design limitations (i.e zone caps.)
