I guess, but at least western MMOs put an effort into something other than an endless grind, that said I dislike most western MMOs except for World of Warcraft.

How so? I'm looking forward to ARR, but I'm also aware of many of the faults the game has. There's a difference between criticism and acting like a retard at the slightest release of news. I think the PS3 version looks pretty crappy, but I'm not saying HOLY SHIT DOWNGRADE SQUARE ENIX IS JUST DOWNGRADING THIS ENTIRE GAME I MISS TANAKA.

I don't know why we even argue/debate with bobbygunz or elexia. Every post from them is negative for the sake of griefing or ffxi reminiscing. Okay yes we all have our own tastes xi was fun. I give elexia some credit. Bobbygunz gets none because he spews putrid vile statements forth with no factual backing just emotional charged biasing to 2001 mmo standard of grinding out everything and secluding communities because he thinks he is better than anyone else just because he has more time on his hands then most in this global culture.

Tldr: bobbyguns has been a troubling member of the community for 2-3 months that like Starlord said. Why is he still here if he so hates the direction Yoshi-P is taking the game? Advice stop responding to him no matter how much you want to it just causes more devolution of forum topics on ffxivs future.

Got to say I'm loving the new menu style. The whole design looks a lot cleaner, nicer. Truthfully however, it doesn't quite fit the feel of FFXIV, it'd be better suited for one of the newer generation (Yes I know this is one of the newer Final Fantasy games but I don't mean THAT kind of newer generation.) Final Fantasy styles. It has an almost sci-fi space-like feel with its looks. I won't deny the new UI is very appealing to the eye of course. I'd maybe see this kind of UI used if FFXIV dealt with space travel or something far more modern.

I guess what I'm going for is if the world of FFXIII was made into an MMO this might be the UI I'd see used for it. But in the world of Hydaelyn, not so much.

While few MMOs are like this, you have to admit, all YoshiP is doing is making XIV how MMOs were back in 2004-2006 era, not really doing anything new. Tanaka had vision (XI was successful), Tanaka had ambitions, everything he tried to do was usually for the sake of trying to make something new for MMOs, the ideas were half implemented or else it probably would have went over a lot better.

You say that Tanaka had vision and ambitions, but then say that Yoshi-P has none because he is copying WoW. Ironic, considering that FFXI was a clone of EQ1 with a FF skin. Also, if you read the latest interview with Tanaka, you would find out that he just let the development team do what they wanted. He basically says that he did not come up with the ideas that made it into the game. So, if none of the ideas were his, how can he have had ambition for FFXIV?

On the subject of the PS3 UI, it looks great. This was one of my main concerns, as I have a friend who could not get a PC strong enough to play FFXIV. It will still be hard to communicate on PS3, but at least actions look easy and fast to access. Also, it can hold a good deal of actions (128), which was another concern as PC versions (of other MMOs) tend to have had more action slots available than their console counterpart.

Sounds like you just don't think the look of the ui doesn't fit, not the functionality. And if I am right in that assumption you could easily change that with the customisablility of ui
