Hmm... Well, to be honest, I loved FFXI. Not going to even try to deny it. It's my favorite MMO, period.
That being said, I've done enough in FFXI for it to be old now. I've played most of the classes as far as I want to take them, and I've done all the missions I can do.
What I really want is for the same quality of craftsmanship put into FFXI to be present in FFXIV. I want a good story. I want a class system that isn't catering to people with mental disabilities. I want almost everything that FFXI had, but better.
The absolute worst thing about FFXI was how long it took to get something accomplished. That's why only hard-core players could really get far in it. Most classes had to group together and be efficient in getting high EXP/hour. Unfortunately, the major reason I quit FFXI was I stopped having the time to play it for hours on end.
FFXIV was advertised as FFXI for people with little time to play. Why did SE lie?! Every time I log into FFXIV, I just sigh and wonder about it being feasible to rejoin FFXI. But then I remember how long it takes to level, and the fact that I've done most of the content in the game.... I'm just looking for something that is new, but has the same caliber of quality that FFXI did.
If they remade FFXI, I'd probably play it. But I would like to have new objectives. I left a little bit before they increased the level cap, because I didn't have the time to really play anymore, and I felt like I had already "done" most everything. RoZ, CoP, ToA, WotG.... I think the only thing I hadn't done was get Rank 10 in each country, but that's not a good enough reason to stay in the game.
The mini-packs were cool, though. But I don't think I'd want to see too many more of them. It kind of sucked that I had to pay for a mini-expansion that just gave better gear.
I want adventure! I want epic battles! I want some air-ships and chocobos! And I want my &@^! pimp-hat! (And to actually be a Red Mage, and not this crap we have for classes).
Anyone else feel that way?
