You almost make it sound depressing >.>;Considering monsters in ARR are there for scenery purposes and have no use to you (you level and whatnot through Quest Grinding and Dungeons will be the source of anything most likely) nothing will probably aggro and have heavy leashes since we have them now in XIV because people complained mobs will chase you for too long.
This is Square Enix, prepare to be depressed.
I'd really prefer not to get chased for 5 minutes straight until I can change areas. I'm a cautious person by nature, but shit happens. (aka the inevitable goblin aggro while you're fighting something else, I'm looking at you FFXI)
If speed runs for dungeons are going away then maybe people might feel a little more compelled to clear trash in the new dungeons. Otherwise, the exception to the above would be I would want anything inside a dungeon to follow you until you or they are dead. Darkhold was the most annoying thing ever to me and I don't want to see mechanics like that again.
you kinda havee to have leashing if you're not going to have S/I. However, in most games where this happens, the enemy becomes un-hittable while it's returning to its territory, making it harder to abuse.
While true, in XIV they're more of the: "*Chases for 3 feet and stops "Eh screw this" *sits back on couch and watch TV* variety.
So while leashing always exists, its pretty severe in XIV.
Send me a /t if you want to do this the right way. I'll give all drops to other pt members. I just want to be in a group who doesn't mind losing the fight to beat them the way SE intended. No English speaking groups on Balmung ever want to do it right.
I want to, but every single group I've been in want to leash them. So sad. =/
Same in Castrum Novum. About a week ago, some LS mates and I were camping and killing the first H1 the right way, and along comes another group and ninjas the H1 so they can leash it. So freakin' lame.
Wow, could you see how quickly this thread derailed?
I'd prefer the FFxi aggro way(hellz yeah) Old School baby! Having the possibility to escape is a must too because after awhile, mobs should /unfollow.
The thing with XIV is, the mob-bastards have /range... (nuff said) >.>
On the bright side, now I have a bunch of strategies to use on this fight instead of the slingshot method.
