i apologise in advance i know there are so many gear posts out there including two i like but my question, as are they all, is slightly different.

I am trying to gear up for garuda!

my Ls is doing a lot of garuda just lately and we get to phase 3 before wiping.

As a blm my damage is constantly around for 14k with 29 spells cast and 1 or two misses the other 2 Blms from the ls are doing the same amount of damage but wth 100% accuracy. However a pickup blm was outdamaging us yesterday with a constant 16k and his accuracy was very low, i dont remember how low exactly. When i checked there gear (and asked them) their int was about 30 higher than mine acc was 50 lower and their crit.hit rating was +80

my gear setup is as follows

2 coral rings+1
zircon bracelets +1
mages choker
mages earrings

Felt cavaliers hat +35 int
spruce pattens +1 with lightning potency +25
boarskin ringbands of storms 2* sagacious might giving crit potency+84
body and legs are both af
ive been using att magic food instead of accuracy

im planning on double melding 2* Int and Mind onto legs
ive also been using a lightning brand with +24 acc.

My stats as they stand are:
int 303
mind 247
m.acc 484
m.att 472
m.crit.rate +20

should i swap out my coral rings for Black pearl rings+1 for an extra 16 crit rating?
i have narrowed down the choice of weapon to:
Lightning brand (+16 acc and 16 int materias)
Electrum scepter (2 * 16 int materias)
Vintage cudgel +1 for the crit rate (not sure on the combination of materias but at least 1 int) will be ivory probably if melds fail
giantsgall, probably out of my short term budget anyway but....

basically i want to be doing as much damage as possible, i can switch in food for any lost accuracy. i always thought i had to go for int but this other blm doing so much damage and being resisted has me wondering.

I'd stick with the lightning brand, until I got Garuda it was very similar but had more acc on it and it was +1.

What I suggest going for as your acc seems plenty high enough is switching the coral rings to zircon rings +1.

Edit. O also depending on the gc you are in I recommend getting the officer cot instead of an, especially if you are a flame.

Yes use INT rings and use Accurancy food if u want.
You can get 34 acc from food but you can't get that much INT

You don't need that much accurancy anyway I usually go with about 430 acc base, with buttons and minuet I get around 500, and very rarely resist even on Garuda.
I usually parse 25-28k on garuda but that is in a full fight and with BLMx4 burn strategy

I would switch to acc food, the two coral rings to the zircons, and switch the feet to the AF Crakows.

Sounds Random but, because you already have those melded Ringbands with Magic Crit, and you have super high Magic Accuracy, you should try using the Aubriest's Whisper + Acc Food for Garuda

Magic Accuracy : -20, Magic Crit Potency : +120

It would be cheap to try it out. With 200+ Magic Crit Potency it may actually do good damage.

Get a couple HQ Black Pearl Rings for the Acc + Crit Rate

Could be an interesting build.

For a basic solid build -
Get those melded pants, Woolen Tights + Materia X 2
HQ INT Rings (total 36 INT)
Buttons in a Blanket

Sounds like maybe that other guy had a better rotation too....might be another option to look at

thank you for the answers. i tied the black pearl rings and still only did 2 crits. now working on getting the following build all +1 gear where possible and double melded with int, loresman or mp/enmity -

Felt Bliaud
Gridanian square shield
Vanya sash
Boarskin ringbands of storms
Woolen tights
Spruce pattens
Mages choker
Mages Earrings
Zircon bracelets
Zircon rings

This gives me the following stats Magic accuracy 451 and int 353

now my choice is electrum scepter with double int (acc 468 +31 from buttons, int 385)

or

lightning brand with 1*int and 1* magic accuracy (ac 467 +31 from buttons, int 369) potency +20 and lightning potency +10

Does anyone know which would do more damage?

At least on Garuda, one thing I notice is that many blms do not nuke enough for fear of pulling hate.

Put some faith in your tank there. Nuke as much as you can and adjust in following runs to compensate if your tank can't handle it.

I will always go brand, just due to the simple principle, most of the time you will be casting thunder combos and use crowned cakes. The brd buff should easily compensate for not using buttons

For garuda you want INT, INT and more INT, you should be ok for acc so long as you have around 440 macc if your eating buttons in a blanket even a little less than that as my current build is 438. Heres what i wear though its not optimal.

Lightning Brand+1 +32 int dbl meld
Gridanian square shield +10 macc
Felt hat of intelligence +37 int dbl meld
Gridanian officer's overcoat +10 int
Militia ringbands +5 int +5 macc +20 magic crit rate
Raptonskin satchel belt -30 emnity dbl meld
Serpent sergeant's hose +8 int -20 emnity
Serpent sergeant's Jackboots +10 int
serpent sergeant's Earrings +4 attack magic potency +4 int
Mages choker +15 macc +20 magic crit rate
Zircon bracelet +1 +4 int
Zircon rings +1 +18 int x2

That puts me at 402 INT 438 MACC

Focus on the int > other stats generally you can always get the sceptre and trade your mages choker in for a spinel choker+1 and you wont be all that much worse off if at all.
