    Anyway, while this is a mostly a community problem, fights like To Kill a Raven don't give that cushion time for people who watch the cutscene. In the primal fights, there's usually plenty of time for their intros because they're less than a minute each, but Nael van Darnus is much more long-winded than any other boss in this game. I love his speeches, but there simply isn't enough time to read them and comfortably finish the fight. Likewise, the cutscenes in dungeons will take away from your chance at a speed run.

    I agree that XI's choice to put the cutscene outside the instance was probably the best choice. Even if there is no danger of a time limit, at least you won't have to make the party wait.

    Not to mention that even the ones inside of a lot of fights usually stall timers a bit till the monster is engaged, it seems like most XIV encounters are more of a race against a timer than a battle against x.

    They let you skip events you already completed which I think would have been a bit better. Everyone watches the CS/story the first time then able to skip every time after. I guess this part of the reason they're getting rid of speed runs in ARR.

    If they made the cutscene occur before entry to the arena, we would be able to watch it at our leisure and enter when everyone was ready. Though i am certain people would complain that at the end of the citscene they were still where they were beforehand and that they should come out of the cutscene where the cutscene put them. maybe this could be solved by making all arenas like skirmish, where there is a secondary portion between entering and starting.

    I'm sure its already been said but just remove the timers all together for crying out loud... Unless there is a bomb ticking or floodgates opening or some other story driven reason for having a timer on an instance, just get rid of them. I just dont get why they timed the instances in the first place. I think i heard there was a developer reason for it (Paraphrasing) "we have a server made to run the instances and we had to put timers and cooldowns for re-entry so everyone gets a fair turn. with the lack of content, when we release a new instance everyone wants to do it and can cause big technical problems for us."

    With the new ARR they are supposedly releasing it with current instance + many more so this will hopefully help with the congestion and they will remove the timers altogether. I'm not opposed to the thought of the occasional timed instance for story reasons but i hope they can avoid having them timed for developer purposes.

    They shouldn't remove all timers, especially on specific encounters where timers can be used as a DPS check. However what is poorly designed is that the timer is for the whole fight and not a simple enrage timer, where the clock starts ticking only when the boss got engaged.

    That would make more sense and solve the cutscene issue all together. Same for dungeon or everything, timer should only starts once someone started to move forward (just allow couple of steps before the timer kicks in).

    We plan on making adjustments so that you will be able to enjoy cutscenes and still complete battles on time. In addition, there are several other solutions that are being looked into but we don't have the specifics to share just yet.

    How about making it like AF quests?

    The instance doesn't start until everyone watches the cs/skips the cs.

    Anyway, I thought they were removing speedruns, shouldn't timers be a thing of the past?

    Well they said timers were eliminated from dungeons right? I don't really see the cut scenes being a bother to deal with if that is the case.

    What I hated about CS's in dungeons that sometimes it would crash my game if I tried to skip past them. The issue hasn't shown in a while.

    Also if the load times are faster in 2.0, I think the bother of CS's during dungeons shouldn't be that bad.
