I think it more has to do with the fact that there is only one (that I know of) published strategy of this fight in English, as opposed to the dozens of strategies/tips the JPs have put forth, complete with multiple PT setups.

While decent gear is required for the fight, if all 8 members understand the fight completely, having superior gear/Relic weapons is not required. I have beaten the fight a total of four times, and in one fight I was in a party where no members had any Relic weapons whatsoever and one of the BRDs ran out of arrows mid-fight still won (although with only 3 seconds left). Understanding the fight (especially understanding the range of Lunar Dynamo and destroying the Lunar Fragments) is the most critical element, and unfortunately, from my observations, not many NAs are willing to put that research and effort into it because they dismiss the fight as too hard.

Yes, it's a hard fight. But it's hella fun, and the sense of accomplishment when you finally beat it is very, very rewarding.
