Yep, it's something to try if you keep getting hit by random dynamos.

17:48 kill with seven deaths, on pace for ~12-13min kill without any deaths. we'll see what we end up with when we try again wednesday
but i can pretty much confirm that he will always jump and megaflare as soon as he takes ~2500+ damage. leading with buffed thundagas and going all out with 3 drgs, we weren't able to do more than 2500 damage. we just did it faster (15-20sec), and that still had no influence on damage taken.
most of us can survive without lunar curtain, but that's mainly because we start with HP food and HP gear, have aoe sanguine rite and stoneskin and battle voice. lunar curtain was still necessary for our bard.

I used to go brd and bv after we zoned in and changed to BLM and the hp buff would last long enough so we just needed an aoe Sangunie rite and we could still use potions throughout the fight but we eventually just went back to using lunar curtains.17:48 kill with seven deaths, on pace for ~12-13min kill without any deaths. we'll see what we end up with when we try again wednesday

You can do it either way, whatever works best for your group.

Man thats pretty fast. Did you guys use 3 dragoons? We killed it with about 8 minutes left on the clock in both of our wins but our party setup has consisted of 2 monks for golems and their damage output just can't compare to a dragoon. Even my dragoon which is crappily geared compared to someone who is a career dragoon did like 23k more total damage over the course of the fight to darnus against people who have heavily geared monks. I didn't even notice that he uses the golems after dalamud dive until the other night in the fight we won because I have only actually been apart of the fight like 10 times since I have been so busy with school so I would like to try the whole intentionally letting him dalamud dive right before golem phase and burning him down with 3 dragoons and also eating a majority of the dalamud dives to see if we cant shave off 3 or 4 minutes.17:48 kill with seven deaths, on pace for ~12-13min kill without any deaths. we'll see what we end up with when we try again wednesday

On a side note to that, I also noticed what you were pointing out with the whole surviving without lunar curtains thing the other night. My Drg had like 300ish hp left after megaflare in 2 out of the 3 attempts I didn't use a curtain but I did get one shotted in one of the attempts and I have no idea why since I didn't do anything differently, so maybe it was a fluke or maybe the damage fluctuates or maybe he some how got a crit megaflare on me? I also found that it worth popping dread spikes right before megaflare happened because like 50% of the time he likes to follow it up with an iron chariot and you can get a good amount of HP back from that while only sacrificing a power surge that is only like 3 or 4 weaponskills in.

I feel your pain, My LS will only do certain fights as static only, meaning people who want to do them are excluded. (It's so bad I'm thinking of dropping that shell completely.) It's not right that people do this, and it only hurts the community in the long run.

Have you ever tried to learn how to do content with a group of 5 static people who are cycling in 3 new people every day? (Just an example of numbers, not actually being specific) It makes the first win take an undeniably longer amount of time and, in my experience, only makes people who participate less interested in the content because of the constant wipes. There are seemingly plateaus for every piece of new content that people have to overcome by experience with the fight and while there is normally room to carry a few new members passed that point, the "veteran" members need to learn the entire fight to do so.
So unless you are dedicated enough to possibly spend hours dying day after day to learn a single piece of content, you will have to wait for your static members to master the fight and then pass on their experience by rotating in a few new members at a time.
Now if they aren't taking any new members in for content like Moogle or Skirmish then you have a valid point, but Garuda, Ifrit (Extreme) and Rivenroad (Hard) are still difficult content for a lot of LSes.
If no one gets hit by Dynamo the fight can go very fast because he is not healing himself.
The damage does indeed fluctuate. It may do more based on if your hit from the front/left/rear but I have seen people live/die with the same hp.

Plasma Acoustics is a pain in the ass if you're mid combo ><
got a couple 13 minute kills tonight, but we're still not playing perfectly. pretty sure we can knock the time down a couple more minutes if we bring our 'A' game.
definitely the most fun i've had in XIV in quite some time, though![]()
