If such transactions were predicated solely on redenomination, the people who sell items in 2.0 for 5/10ths of the items' 1.0 value are as ignorant as the people who buy those items at that price. It's not sustainable for either group. Prices won't permanently change unless an item in question is, for whatever reason, more valuable to players in 2.0. For items with comparable values, there will be a short-term boon as opportunistic sellers try to gouge people for a quick gil--not because of redenomination, but because there's no price history available for reference.

The reason for why it will happen doesnt matter, it does not matter if its because of redenomination, it does not matter if its because no price history, it does not matter because people are ignorant.

What matters is I believe and predict it will happen. I also predict it will sustain.

I do not think Wind Shard will go to 3g from 30g ever.

I do not think a double melded Vanya will go from 8m to 800k

Therefore due to this, I believe it is a loss. I could go buy relic weapon now and be OK and have it, in 2.0 if it never goes to 3m, but instead goes to 4.5m then I am happy I got it cheap, because 4.5 would be 45m and thus I have saved.

I am solely, basing my argument on the prediction that I do not believe items will reduce to 1/10th and that the adverse affect is the feeling of loosing gil because of what I once could afford, I can no longer.

I am happy about the process, I am very glad they are doing this, but I wont be made to believe I am just as wealthy now as I will be in 2.0 until I see prices also reduce down like I was.

PS @Viion: what you think or don't think is irrelevant. Every price in the game's economy will be changed to fit the redenomination. That's all that matters.
Player-set prices will be decided by the market. Overpriced items compared to what people have will stay unsold, and prices will naturally adjust accordingly. Prices are always decided by the market through offer and demand. Reducing the cash people have influences the demand radically, and as such, by a basic principle of economy, will also influence prices.

If a rich player buys things at the inflated prices we have now, then they have no one to blame but themself for losing all their hard work.

Since everyone is having their gil reduced, average joe #42 isn't going to be able to buy materials/weapon/gear at the same price we have now. The only people who will be able to will be the super rich that we have in game now. Again if they want to waste their money doing so, then they can't complain. For everyone else who is under 10 mil it's just not sustainable to buy things at overly inflated prices. The gil just doesn't exist for the population to keep spending the same amount.

If you don't want to get ripped off, just avoid paying stupidly high amounts at release and wait for prices to drop down. They'll be high at first because everyone will be trying to catch the suckers willing to pay out the arse, but they'll drop off as the market gets flooded.

Right, so finish it off... they would need 16m to buy it.

But come 2.0 the price should go down to 4.6m but instead goes to 5m, they still cant buy it but now need 2m, instead of the original 1.6m they would have needed previously (previously being 16m needed, but raised to 50m).

If this % of increase happens across every item, in 1 night to x time, you've lost a certain amount. because not all prices reduced to the amount you was reduced by.

Thus what has happened, because of this situation, all items across the board have increased in value by X% but you have had a flat-rate reduction, over night. This is not possible now, you will not see all items in 2.0 suddenly go up by 50-100-150%, there is however a chance for that to happen after the transfer.
