    God Damnit!

I noticed that during the character creation the one choice I took a lot of time to decide on was which deity to follow. This turned out to have little to no impact on the game itself as far as I could tell. At one point it was sort of referenced when taking Leve's to the extent you gained a blessing (extra exp) for doing a Leve but the deity you picked didn't make any difference in its effects.

Also from what I've heard (haven't encountered it yet) there are the symbols of the deities scattered around the higher level zones. Don't know what it does but I'm assuming you get an achievement for finding them all.

I would like to know if your deity choice will have more of an impact on your game in ARR than it did in 1.0. I also hope, if they decide to keep it, they add the option to select "No Deity". I've seen other games provide this option (Elder Scrolls series for one) where your choice of god provides a small bonus or extra skill and even having no deity will provide a special bonus.

I'm really hoping SE has plans to make the deities have a greater impact on game-play and story or just remove the choice all together if it is basically inconsequential. I'm thinking there was an initial idea to do so but when they made the decision to rebuild the game the importance of it fell by the wayside. With any luck in the months to come some light will shine through the clouds and strike us all with a divine lightning bold of wisdom on this subject.

Nice Thread Title ( I see what you did there )

Deities may have had an eventual purpose that was in the works but simply wasn't there when the 1.0 was rocketed to its doom. As a nod to the intentions of the original producer, a little quest was added so you could "pray" to each of the stones. You would receive a bauble bearing your chosen deities symbol.

Of course, this probably annoyed the heck out of RP'ers and others who would rather there be a "no diety option" but it was just one out of a laundry list of oversights that, if written down in a book, would be so heavy the Hulk couldn't lift it.

I haven't heard much about dieties in ARR. Maybe more info will be flooding in later.

They have definitely insinuated gods will play a much larger role in ARR but they haven't confirmed any solid information. As you can see they are attempting to give the gods some significance in the end of the world events and saving our "lives" so we can only assume they will make an appearance in the final days and possibly or more then likely continue on their influence/appearance in ARR

I agree that this choice should have some type of benefit and if a player wants to make no choice, this should also have an impact but remove it because a player can’t opt out.. humm.

Why insist on having content removed that you feel has no real impact, why so selfish? What if it’s there just for immersion (weather you think it creates immersion or not), because I’m sure there are players who feel it does (Me).

Take for instance Parley; I understand the argument that it should not be part of a leve or quest line, but why does it have to be taken out of the game. There are players who enjoy its mild diversion.

This is not addressed directly to the OP but the entire player base, (a few who constantly post in General) I personally can’t stand posts advocating removing peripheral “inconsequential” content. Ask that it get fixed sure, otherwise leave it alone, some of us like it just because it’s there.

I wasnt suggesting remove the whole system if there was no option for "No Deity" I was suggesting remove it if it does not impact the game-play. I'm sure it will or why even bother with the choice. that was my point. Please re-read my OP if you are still confused.

Also, "immersion" is a pretty bad position to argue from. I would like to see the deity stay, I only hope there will be a bit more meat to them. i may have worded some of my OP wrong when i said

the "and if not" part should have been "i also hope" i will edit my OP.

If it's OPTIONAL leave it in. If it's required, ie MARKET WARDS, take em out.

As for mini games and diversions, I'd rather have the mini snowboard game from VII than the parlay crap. But then, I'd probably stop XPing.

What i wish they did instead of Parley is change it to a Tetra Master battle challenge. Please add in tetra master!

TM was pretty simplistic and fun. TM on POL was a good start, the only issue was keeping it separate otherwise it would have been a much better game.
