Too much twitch gaming and ADD gameplay permeat your playstyle. Nothing wrong with that...just not what I think makes a good MMO, I enjoy the slower more deliberate pace of combat focused on a single foe instead of 10.
Hmmm, I kinda like a mixture of both. Ever play a game called Final Fantasy XI ? It had a mix of both. It had this "event" called dynamis, and without going into too much detail, there were times where you and a few others (30+ lol), had to deal with multiple enemies. FUN times. It also had these soloable "events". Some were kinda boring, and simplistic (I musta gave that lady 1000+ flint stones, I hope she burns down her house). Others, were fun and rememberable. Are you a SOB ?

Remember that time when in Dynamis or (Almost all group content with multiple enemies) it was broke down into two groups, avoid pissing everything off take them one by one, or split your group up and fight them in your groups...one by one?

FFXI had a massive focus on Many vs One (PvM) increasing the ammount of players just allowed you to fight multiple monsters at once in split groups. If you can tell me when 30+ people were fighting more than 30+ monsters I'll concede but considering you can't/wont (Only thing I can think of are astral burns and even those weren't really content per-se) I'll just leave it at that.

Please don't try and bring up a point (And a apparant insult with the SOB) when you are wrong anyways.

I don't even understand what point you are trying to make, even Manaburns rarely killed more than a handfull of monsters at a time with a very exacting and well timed setup as well.

It's a far cry from the type of AOE gameplay the OP is talking about.

For the record wether you actually care or not or are just being a instigator, I was also a level 75 blackmage in FFXI primarilly through solo-duo play though. I did the "OMG TEH TERRIBLE GRINDZ" on my Thief when the game launched, with my limited playtime took me a year of "Killing the same mob over and over" (But really I changed camp often and rarely killed the same thing for more than a few levels) I don't see how killing 10 of the same thing over and over....would be any different.

So again...what's the point your trying to make? You tried to call me out and say FFXI had AOE spam-fests and outside a few situational (Very few) times it was a focused group vs one (Monster) game.

I'm a tad ashamed I didn't catch the Star Onion Brigade comment, but considering your posting style I don't think it's a stretch me assuming what you meant with that acronym. So unless you have something more usefull to say or counter my point with some valid evidence then I'm not sure what your trying to accomplish here.

Flying mounts are garbage and make your zones incredibly boring hope this helps. Also while the "action lock" right now is excessive it's not an inherently bad thing. It's incredibly common for video games in general to both disallow moving during actions and balance actions by startup/recovery time. Finally the OP reads like it was written like a year and a half ago before 2.0 was announced because they've addressed almost everything in it.

boring? go visit uldah see all them POSERS standing around AFK showin off their ifrit moogle w/e weapons
there is enough lag in this game, if your gonna AFK for long periods of time LTFO

When 2.0 was announced they showed a very impressive looking screen shot. Recently, they released a video. I for one think they downgraded the graphics. I'll reserve judgement on 2.0 until it is installed on my PC. And don't forget, SE has had problems DELIVERING what they promised in the past.

I would agree with you on most of those things. I will disagree on the clicking to move to your target, i never liked that feature in any of the mmos i played. One of the better posts on these forums.

    Thumbs up^

I respect your opinion, but please accept mine as well:

This is by far the biggest crap I've read in a while.

    1. I didn't know that opening a menu with the escape key is necessary to make a good mmo.
    2. All this reads like the perfect guide to turn this game into a world of warcraft with chocobos - i know you're looking at this from the casual point of view, but I doubt they will attract anyone if they make the game just like all the rest that is on the market.

Besides Square Enix hasn't made money in the casual zone in FFXI and they won't do it here either. Just look at your own MMO history, a game needs core players and with all your suggestions FFXIV would lose a great bunch of these. Seems to be a bad trade-off to me considering the casuals will be gone after 2 months playing perfect world or wow or whatever.

You have played WoW for years and are calling XIV slow - I agree its slower than wow, but I don't really think its worse. In WoW (yes I've played it myself) you smash your buttons and spam abilities as often as you can, just hammering your keyboard like crazy - yet the combo system in FFXIV makes the "slower" combat way more vivid than anything you have in WoW.
