Graphical Turnoff of 1.0 Hopefully Fixed

The extremely short draw distance (even at full length) in XIV was a major immersion killer. The way in which the sprite-based bushes would draw in as you run across the landscape and, not to mention, the bizarre "unveiling" effect of blurry lanscapes coming into focus made the game very unrealistic feeling. I'm not talking about blurring from the depth of field I'm talking about Limsa Lominsa for example, where as you run there is a clear distance threshold in which crossing it makes the rocks come into focus. You can stand on that threshold, ,move forward, and back out, and watch it go in and out as if it is covered in plastic that melts away as you move in. Reallllllllllllly bad graphics, especially for the beast of a machine that was required to run it.

Apparently the draw distance in ARR is pretty nice. At least that's what some people that saw the game at events said.

It's hard to determine draw distance from the producer live video because it's blurry in general. I do really like how at one point he rides the chocobo up a giant tree limb. Very Final Fantasy -esque.

Shake? It's a freaking camera seizure, I hate GB so much because of how the camera pops up and down on the overhang lol.

Draw distance in ARR is supposed to be better, but it's also one of the things dependent on your system specs and how high your game settings are.

    Agreed x1000.

    ... /gag

Another thing I hated was the bloom, but it looks a lot better in ARR's screenshots.

Agreed. I love the look of Limsa Lominsa, but the short detail distance really ruins the looks of it for me personally. Same with other places, such as the flags on Ul'dah, with how they fade in at such a short distance... *grumbles*

The angels dance like feathers float, they're here to see and to be seen,
The clock strikes two, the music slows and each one slowly dons their wings,
Once outside they all pair off and hand in hand they leave
But I'm still waiting, yeah, and I'm still waiting

Yes! WTF is that? When ever my character runs downhill or over even any downhill slope from a little bump the character shakes violenty like he's having a seizure. I thought it may be my system breaking down. I guess I'm not alone.

This part is not true. For some reason Square only allows you to adjust the draw distance to a certain point as if they "assume" that is the maximum ANY pc can handle. Remember FFXI? I had to use windower to extend the draw distance way beyond what Square's settings allowed for, which my computer could handle just fine. So no, draw distance is not entirely dependent on my specs. In the end it is dependent on what Square tells us we can set as the maximum. In FFXIV 1.0 that was like 2 feet -_-
