The extremely short draw distance (even at full length) in XIV was a major immersion killer. The way in which the sprite-based bushes would draw in as you run across the landscape and, not to mention, the bizarre "unveiling" effect of blurry lanscapes coming into focus made the game very unrealistic feeling. I'm not talking about blurring from the depth of field I'm talking about Limsa Lominsa for example, where as you run there is a clear distance threshold in which crossing it makes the rocks come into focus. You can stand on that threshold, ,move forward, and back out, and watch it go in and out as if it is covered in plastic that melts away as you move in. Reallllllllllllly bad graphics, especially for the beast of a machine that was required to run it.
