    Higher drop rates would be too much? I honestly don't agree. I've done this event with successful claims from beginning to end with small groups and this event is too much.
    It may not be a big deal to people that can sink that kind of time easily, but it is when there isn't enough time left.
    I get how many of you are saying that it discredits the people who already achieved getting the hat. For those that have it, fantastic, good for you, honestly I played FF XI and I didn't like investing 12 hours of my time, or 6 hours of my time for nothing except gear that needs to be repaired.
    This event is getting people on edge or just plain annoyed, it's obvious that something needs to change in it. The Primal weapons are just as bad, though not equatable as these guys are easy kills. The tokens I suggested wouldn't be from every kill, that would be way too ridiculous. I'm talking maybe 1 in 20 kills would get a token and then you may need 10 or so tokens to get a hat.
    This rewards players who are consistently doing the event, and the hats aren't tradable anyway so people who feel it would cause too much of an influx are missing the point. The reason behind an event is to be rewarded for participating in it. The way things are now it uses an outdated playing style and only really rewards people who want to blow all of their time on it. The other events haven't felt this annoying and there's only 2 things to "get" here.

    You guys have no idea what painful/contested drop rates are....

    Try camping mobs in EQ on a pvp server that spawned once a week and no one ever shared the spawn timer....

    Camps are a joke now where everyone wants the reward without any of the work.

    Sounds like someone complaining about platformers nowadays not being as hard as Ghosts'n Goblin.

    Hey I could do this as well.

    Drop rate in PSO were 1/299K for certain weapons when you didn't have the right ID (and even with the right ID it would be 1/105K). You guys have it so easy on FF XI and FF XIV! 1% and you say its low! What a joke!!

    A lot of people I know got it the first round of the event in 1 to 7 kills. RNG is just hater to some people, dont make it a reason why everyone else should suffer.

    How many times do you have to flip a coin to get heads? As many times as it takes. So some people will go 200 kills no hat. Completely legitimate under the RNG system.

    That is why it must die. SE should work with ranges and averages to create a consistent experience that you know each kill wasn't a waste of your time. 100% token systems work for that, though we can have other solutions if people get bored of tokens lol.

    The mech should be dropping a stone or something that everyone can loot, 10 checks failed = choose one item. Stone = the ghetto loot system fix till 2.0 :P lol

    You forget to mention that there's usually 800 PvP servers and 3 PvE servers..which ones do you think will fill up faster? You don't always choose a PvP server, you generally get stuck with one due to overcrowding on the PvE servers (if the PvE is good.)

    The editor is a failure then for not providing server types that meet customers needs :] Anyway that's way off topic there. We have told by SE that FFA PvP (understand direct PvP competition for NMs and such) won't be in XIV, so there isn't any point in using that as a comparison.

    This thread is more about the (bad) RNG than anything. (once again yes)

    Yeah and I loved it. PvP servers are usually pretty small and you come to have a new found respect for players that will compete against you for hours on hours with both of you coming away with nothing to show for it.

    It wasn't really a complaint but more of trying to add some perspective.

    Just to give an example, I already have both my hats. (This example is going back to the first week this was out.) The mobs were up in Iron Lake and I told my LS and some people were headed over. A JP group came in and started killing the mobs. Because of SE mechanics I decided to cast fire and wake up all their slept mobs causing them to wipe over and over. They would come up and ask me to stop and not cast fire using the translator but I told them (best I could) I was doing it on purpose so they didnt get the camp.

    No matter how many times I caused them to wipe they just keep coming up to me and asking me to stop.... So i just said this is really sad and moved on. From playing on PVP servers my whole life I was just doing business as normal but watching them die over and over and over and then asking me to stop just made the whole thing feel wrong.
