AF/Job quest controversy, trouble finding group

Hello there, I apologize since now if what I'm saying sound noobish and such, but this thing has been bugging me for a while, since I got back in the game.
To be clear, me and my friend started moving in again in FFXIV around august, to try to exaust the old content before the new one replaces it.
As EU players, we had our spare of troubles with lag, compared to most MMOs. Thus, the peaceful and lovely ambientation made everything nice and bearable.

So, I planned our roadmap: jump to level 50, enjoy story quest now and then on the way, pick our Great Company, ride our personal chocobo, see all lore events, and get the best looking gear so to be ready for 2.0, when we would gather more levels for more classes while getting money for housing.
And everything went fine, since... We bumped our head on final steps of job quests.

We picked Monk and Dragoon respectevely (I know, not the most original choice!), and said ourself "Hei, this looks great. Check this out, we can do level 30 just the two of us on 34, the level 35 quest on 39, the 40 quest on 44! And what's more, I read on the web that everyone claims other quests as *too easy*, so, cool, we can grab our noobish job gear and get this done by ourself!".
Naturally, my monk was blocked along the way by a uber 54 dragon that nuked the crap out of us at our useless level 50. Plus, my friend discovered his step to imply he make himself join a party for an instance who most people look experience people to do.
So, I checked what's for us further on, and discovered that the final step is a 8-men quest.

We obviously gave up, since from what we read, you need a good setup and a good strategy on his.
And made us thought... All this is easy for who? Veteran players who already got all classes to 50 and have a solid linkshell where everybody helps each other?

I'm not criticizing, I'm just trying to understand.
I read, here and there, that AF gear is weak. Furthermore, many would've liked it to be more challenging to get.
But why, if it is so barely useful, compared to endgame gear?
I don't get it. I know, I'm new, I get to 50 and I think I can save the world on my own, that's stupid. But yet, I would just like to get my representive gear and my tecniques.
Why is this so hard to get on your own? And why everybody claims it's easy?
If you don't have friends on server, why should anybody care to help you doing a quest they don't need? You wait several minutes to put together a party for the Dragoon final quest and get nothing to help a stranger?

To put this simple, my questions are the followings.
    1) Why do the final job gear requires 8 people party to complete, if they are so weak?
    2) Why do people claim they are so easy to do?
    3) How am I supposed to get them if I'm a noob lagged european player who barely got in the game since a couple of months?

I'm just not getting if I'm doing something wrong, if I understand this bad, or if SE is just implying that you have to put your faith in other's selfless kindness to get all this done. Seven more guys, if I got this right.
Elsewhere, focusing on the most important question, there is a way to get this done just the two of us and get help for it, as we are now?

I'm sorry to hear your troubles, doesn't seem like you have join the right server. I wish I could help you out but I am on a different server then you. I would suggest shouting in Ul'dah or try to find a LS that is new player friendly. I truly wish you the best of luck in your adventures.

    1) The final job quest requires a full (or nearly full) party, because the jobs were meant to be used in a party atmosphere. Also, if you could solo/duo the job quests, they would generally be considered "too easy".

    2) They're easy to do if you have a full party. (note: Monk isn't as much, but Dragoon certainly is)

    3) Shout for people in Ul'dah. I can't speak for your server, but that's how it gets done on most, if not all, servers when you need to fill out a party roster.

Yes, SE expects you to find other people to assist you with it. My best suggestion is to find other people who need their final AF quest(s) (not necessarily the same as yours), and tell them that you'll help them if they help you. Otherwise, you'll just have to get lucky with whomever sees your shout. No, you will not be able to do the final AF quests as a mere duo.

Hi Taekrys, Just be patient and keep shouting for help in uldah. Some nice souls will help eventually. That's what I did and got all my AF quest done. Good luck!

p/s: You'll be surprised how many kind souls would join you and assist.
