If you don't like Ubuntu and Unity (that's what I'm assuming your complaining about is the Unity interface) you have options. Gnome 3 is right there and Debian or Fedora are good.. Personally I've been revisiting SuSE recently after a long time and find the latest versions quite nice.

I don't know why people see any kind of problem with a Mac client. People own these systems now and they want to play FFXIV on them now. I don't even use Macs and I like the idea.

Thanks, I'll try the Ubuntu change later, it's on my "gaming" laptop

As for the Mac/PC debate :

    Options options options

no one is asking SE to force people to play on a mac
Making a mac version shouldn't be that hard, and it would probably increase the player base Think of it finally a KILLER app for the MAC

P.S. anyone play FFT on the ipad my nephew messed up my game save, and now im stuck entering into battle with only Ramza in pt.

The current WINE version is running on OSX just fine. i know it has already been posted, but here is the link to the FFXIV page, with a wonderful writeup form Evan Burns on the install process. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManage...sion&iId=21478

I am kinda ashamed to say that i am currently running FFXIV in windows because of a very specific hardware issue (if you want a PCIe SSD for FFXIV, they work great, but dont get the RevoDrive3 if you want to roll in linux. get the RevoDrive original, it has full support.

Actually on Linux I'm having some problems with my joystick. I know the reg hacks that it should be but doesn’t work.. gonna hold of and try again on 2.0. Or get a different joystick.

I'm too lazy to look up your posts. SO for the time being, I'll go with this:

    Can't win argument? Ignores.

As for mac debate: Can you play FF14 on Mac? Yes? Then keep playing it like you are doing now. A Mac specific client will be ready (maybe) in 3-4 years

It does not matter anyways. This was not meant to be a flame thread, but Windows fanboys can not handle the idea of someone not only using a Mac but actually wanting to game on it as well. I hardly ever see Mac users going into PC related threads just to tell people to go get a Mac, but Windows user constantly invade Mac threads off all kinds just to demonstrate they are bigger Dicks. Thank you and have a nice day.
Biggest case of the pot calling the kettle black all day on these forums.
Btw, you can't be a "PC" fanboy (or fangirl in my case) because PC is not a brand or label. It is a classification of hardware. An individual can be one for Microsoft or Dell or Mac, but calling one a "PC fanboy/girl" is inaccurate. Please try harder to make actual arguments.

I will state what others have stated before. Mac is a PC. To argue otherwise is to say you don't know what they are.

Now you are just arguing semantics for no real reason(PLUS I SAID WINDOWS FANBOYS NOT PC...LEARN TO READ!). Nobody in their right mind denies that a Mac is a PC, but when people refer to PC the connotation is Windows based computing, so please stop trying to act like you have a one up; you new exactly what I or anyone else was saying. No one was arguing they are not a PC; just a superior computing experience, and beside this just continues to reinforce my point that people who use Windows can not handle the thought of Mac users even existing.

And that just seems to be a blanket statement meant to inflame the whole argument further...

Ya know.. considering the hardware is identical.. lulz

Maybe you should concentrate more on the issue at hand and less on what labels people give you eh?

Anyone who would possibly argue that Windows is a superior computing environment needs to get out more. But hea, it's a forum so someone will make it.. soo if Windows is such a great environment and is easy to use etc etc.. Lets look at any old area of the system.. how about the C:\ drive for instance. A novice would ask "Why is it C:? Why not A?" To that you have to explain that it holds an archaic fall back to 80's floppy drives and hopefully you don't have to explain what a floppy drive itself is or why it is floppy. Innovative? Easy? On what plannet? But it gets better.. why would a modern operating system classify drives according to alphabetical charters, can you imagine a situation where there are more than 26 drives, partitions, usb sticks and cameras in a computer today? What if C:\My Documents\My Photos becomes full of photos? What then? Copy them all to D:\? Why is this core architecture of Windows stuck in the 80's? No other operating systems is. Mac's follow the Unix file system structure where storage is allocated to mount points, in this type of layout a user need not know what actual device they need to use to save files and and administrators can just allocate additional space where it is needed without changing the file system structure. /users/photos becomes /user/photos with more space... and don't even get me started on the Unix ZFS Filesystem, in that case you slap in a hard disk add it to the pool and space magically appears allocated by the volume manager.. along with all the other amazing features of ZFS that do not exist in Windows land.. but /sarcasm ZFS must not exist because we all know *only* Microsoft innovates with lots of great stuff like Internet Explorer and new and improved windows help to assist you with all the pirated/trial/shareware/ad ridden programs you use. :: roll eyes ::

One thing Microsoft is really good at though is advertising and convincing people who don't know very much about computers that they make good products.. for this A+
